RDM Enterprise Recommended Practice for Teams

I'm trying to set up RDM Enterprise for my Team. I've setup a mysql database and will give each member a user account in the database.

In the database I've created entries for connections to to vritual centers and other websites. Each team member has their own login to the website.

Each member has their own Lastpass account.

So the goal is to share a set of connection entries in RDM.

1. Each member in my team has their own log in to RDM to the same database.
2. Each member in my team has their own Lastpass account and will leverage that in RDM and user their own creadentials from lastpass to connect to the share website entry in RDM, such as https://virtualcenter.host.com/ui

I'm reading https://help.remotedesktopmanager.com/index.html?commands_usermanagement_tlsoptions.htm and it doesn't seem clear how i can achive the above goal.

When i create and configure an http entry, and modify credentials, I'll configure it for my personal credentials and use my lastpass account. the Problem is that when another user connect with RDM and see the shared http entry, it's configured for my lastpass. how do i make it so they use their own lastpass account?

Hello,

Have you participated in one of our live demo of RDM? I would suggest sending us an email at ticket@devolutions.net so that we can book a live demo with one of our trainer here at Devolutions.

Best regards,

Thanks, I'll do that.

Hello,

I just sent you a link via a ticketing system to schedule the demo. Have you received it?

Hi Jeff, as a matter of fact I'm looking for the same documentation. Is there additional documentation, or an instructional video available, or do we have to schedule a demo ourselves as well ?

Hello,

We have several information's available in our online help at https://help.remotedesktopmanager.com/

There's a few videos on our youtube channel as well https://www.youtube.com/user/Devolutions

However, if you are still in trial or that you have purchased RDM recently, participating in a live demo could be a very good start for your organization.
Don't hesitate to contact us at ticket@devolutions.net if you want to schedule a live demo.

Received it. Signed up and received additional emails to confirm.

Besides scheduling a demo, is there an answer to the original post?

I need to know how to achieve using individual Lastpass accounts on a shared entry. Currently we have a shared Lastpass account setup in RDM but would like to get away from that scenario.

Hello,

I would recommend that each of your users create a Lastpass entry in their User Vault.

To fetch your credentials from Lastpass with this method you would need to set your connections entries (RDP, SSH, Web, etc) to use the "Find by name (User Vault)" credential mode and then add the name of the Lastpass entry created in your User Vault. Please note that if these connections entries are shared, we recommend asking your users to use the same name for their LastPass entry:

I can't get that method to work the same how we have it setup now.

Currently we have a Lastpass credential entry in the shared area, using the Integrated Mode. On each RDP session, we link the credentials to Lastpass, then select the individual credential, which auto fills in and logs in.

With the User Vault method, I would need to create multiple Lastpass credential entries for each username needed for every RDP session, or during the RDP connection, prompt to select which credentials to use from Lastpass.

Am I missing something, or is this the only option?

Hello,

Thank you for your swift reply!

Currently, this would be the only option. That being said, I will have a discussion with our Engineering Department in order to see if it would be possible to add a "User Specific Setting" on the LastPass entry stored in your main vault and have each of your users enter their own account without affecting the other users.

Hello,

After doing more tests on that matter, I think I might have found another viable solution for you.

You could ask your users to create a Lastpass entry in their User Vault, make sure that you are all using the same name. Once this is done, please do the following:

1- Choose one of your connection entries (in my example I will use an RDP entry -> Right-click on it -> Edit -> User Specific Settings and check "Override Credentials"

2- Choose "Linked (User Vault)"

3- Use the ellipsis button to find the Lastpass entry stored in your User Vault

4- Select your Lastpass entry

5- Use the "Select from list" option found in the "User Specific Settings" window

6- Select the credential from LastPass that you wish to use for this connection.

With this method, your users won't have to create multiple Lastpass entries in their User Vault and they will be able to choose which credential from Lastpass they wish to use for each of their connections. Since this configuration is done with the "User Specific Settings" it won't affect your other users.
