VMWare Console Issue

avatar

I'm trying to use VMWare Console and I'm getting "ERROR SILENT: Connection to server failed!"

I followed this article in the forums and the powershell scripts both return information and I can get a console to a VM. So I know PowerCli is working properly. I'm just unable to connect to vCenter servers, any of them in my environment using RDM. I'm using version 12.0.8.0 65 Bit with PowerCli 5.8 Release 1 and VMRC-8.0.1-3747990.

The trace I did I received:

Silent: Connection to server failed!

Not sure what I'm missing.

Thanks

Glen

Hello,

I had a look at this since you were saying that you could get information from the PowerCLI, but the error message you get in not related to VMware, but rather to our own insertion in our logging table.

You just included the specific error, but are you sure that the date/time corresponds to your actions using the PowerCLI?

Maurice

Hi,

In the help topic we used the command Connect-VIServer {your server}, could you execute this command in PowerCLI and send us a printscreen of the Power CLI screen.

Hi,

In the Help tab, open the Profiler, under the Debug Only Tab set the Debug Level to 3 .

Let this page open and try to start the Vmware Console, please send me the log of the Profiler.

Hi David,
not sure which log you mean.
The window Performance Profiling is empty.
I can see that a powershell pops up (when I connect to an VMware RC) and there is any error message, but it closes too fast for me.

Hello,

The second step of the diagnostic is to run the command to list a few things.

Get-View -ViewType VirtualMachine | select -Property Name, {$_.Moref.Value};

Since you were able to use the Connect command, this indicates that the powercli that you were using is most likely ok. The issue may be that you've configured the wrong bitness (32/64 bit).

Can you confirmed that you followed the steps of https://help.remotedesktopmanager.com/kb_configuringpowercli.htm but for both the 32bit and 64bit editions of the PowerCLI?

We havent seen error messages in red that werent resolved by following our steps to the letter. Maybe the latest release of has introduced some inconsistency, but we havent experienced them ourselves.

If you want to test things easily, follow these steps

Hi Maurice,
the output is similar to the screenshot yesterday.
Left side is 64bit, right side is 32bit PowerCLI.

Can you confirmed that you followed the steps of https://help.remotedesktopmanager.com/kb_configuringpowercli.htm but for both the 32bit and 64bit editions of the PowerCLI?
Done in 32 and 64bit

Hi David,
last week I sent you my RemoteDesktopManager.cfg via mail.
In my EMail I told you that my Application Log is empty.
I offered a teamviewer session to get some logging or whatever is needed.

Hi Tino,

I look in the emails we received last week and I did not see all the information. Could you send us the application log not the RemoteDesktopManager.cfg please.

After the investigation of the information, we could do a remote session.

Best regards,

David Grandolfo
