Hi,
We are proud to offer Remote Desktop Manager in multiple languages. However we need your contribution to make that the UI is perfect. We now use a great online platform to share, comment and translate all the strings. If want to get involved in the project, click on this link http://amanuens.com/get-involved?a=devolutions&k=2FA3D387A072F3358D3886A9A7FF7166. We will send you an invitation and we will be able to access the resources.
We currently need to review the German, Dutch, Spanish translation. We can also add more languages if you are interested to work on them. We will generate the default files with an automated translation from Bing. It's only a starting point and those files definitively will need a full review. For your information, there are 3 files to translate:

Thank you

Sorry I didn't translate much in the past weeks since I have access. I've quite busy - you know how it is :)
I did some translation today and was wondering: Is there a way to commit my changes and update my local installation with the new localized files?
Thanks!
Daniel
I hope you see that: It is with big regret that I inform you that the Amanuens software localization platform is being discontinued. Unfortunately, the current and projected status of our business doesn’t allow us to continue any further.
The Amanuens service, accessible at https://my.amanuens.com, and all related web properties will be taken offline on 2012/07/31. After such date, all the data in the system will be permanently deleted. You will receive another communication 7 days prior to the shutdown, but please make sure that you have downloaded all of your translation data before such date, as we won’t be able to recover it after taking the system offline. http://blog.amanuens.com/
Thx
Tom
Don't worry we already have contacted them and we are working with them on a solution for us. I can't give you the details but we have few options.
David Hervieux
Hmm..i completed the registration..but, on my devolutions dashboard: There are no projects at this time.
??
Thx
Tom
Hi,
I have assigned you a project. It should be there now
David Hervieux
Hi, David.
What about "Amanuens will be permanently taken offline on July 31st, 2012. More details on our blog."
and
"The Amanuens service, accessible at https://my.amanuens.com, and all related web properties will be taken offline on 2012/07/31."
Hi,
We are in contact with them, we talked about multiple solutions for us. We are waiting for the final details from them. I really like their service but they seems to go out of business. So for now, you can continue to use their service and I do the translation integration every day.
David Hervieux
Hi,
You can download the translation tool and get more information here:
http://blog.devolutions.net/2012/08/introducing-devolutions-localizer-our.html
David Hervieux
cool!
I can't find a download link though...
Hi,
You need to signup to get the download link but since you were registered in Amanuens, you should already have received an email with your new password.

I didn't receive a mail with a new password.
And if I try to register it says that email address is already used.
thanks
I just sent you your password. Please let me know if you got it.
Thanks

Yes I received it, thanks!
Some suggestion for Devolutions Localizer so far:
I missed a Search function on the UI. So I instinctively pressed Ctrl + F and there it was :)
Maybe you should make that feature obvious on the UI. Maybe also a quick jump search would be nice.
I wish Ctrl + Left/Right arrow would work while editing text (to jump with the cursor over whole words)
Also Ctrl + Backspace/Del to delete whole words, Ctrl + Shift + Left/Right arrow to select whole words.
It works everywhere else in Windows but Localizer seems to be blocking the Ctrl modifier key from working while editing text
The program crashed when i (accidentally) hit Ctrl + B I think. Lost some changes :(
Regarding the translation:
Who can I talk to when I have question regarding the German translation? For example, finding a standard to translate "batch edit" or "batch add" because there is no good verb of that in German.
What to do if the translation does not fit on the UI? German text is often longer than in English.
Thanks!
Thank you very much for the feedback.
You are correct we've mapped the CTRL to help speed of translation (you can use it without using the mouse). You can find all the mappings here.
http://blog.devolutions.net/2012/08/introducing-devolutions-localizer-our.html
please see comments below
Ctrl + Left/Right is mapped to "Mark as Translated" & "User original"
This a bug, I will try to release a new version within the next few days that will resolve this issue.
Ctrl+B is to Bing the current resource. I should work, I will double check and make sure that if it ever happens to fail to not crash the entire application.
I would suggest you start a news group thread much like the Russians have. ( http://forum.devolutions.net/forum/topic1891-%D0%BA%D0%BE%D0%BE%D1%80%D0%B4%D0%B8%D0%BD%D0%B0%D1%86%D0%B8%D1%8F-%D0%BF%D0%B5%D1%80%D0%B5%D0%B2%D0%BE%D0%B4%D0%B0-%D0%BD%D0%B0-%D1%80%D1%83%D1%81%D1%81%D0%BA%D0%B8%D0%B8-%D1%8F%D0%B7%D1%8B%D0%BA.aspx )
Send us a print screen and we will do our best to accommodate when possible.
Stéfane Lavergne
Thanks!
You can't delete comments from entries in Localizer. When you try, the comments stays unaltered
What if i want to fix an English entry? :)
"This application required the .NET Framework 3.5!"
would change that to
"This application requires Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5."
I've just published the 1.0.0.21 which has bug fixes for all the mentioned bugs. (simply restart the application)
As for the Ctrl+Left/Right we’ve reverted to the default Windows behaviour. You can now use:
Ctrl+D : Mark as Translated
Ctrl+E : User original
For English errors please post them to the news group or send them via email. We need to modify them in the source file no the translation tool. (We “might” add something for this in the future)
Stéfane Lavergne
Thanks! Ctrl + Left/Right makes my life easier :)
Another english fix:
UIResources.resx / lblEnterHostNameOrIPOfViewConnectServer
"Enter the host name of IP address of the View Connection server."
of --> or
Fixed!
David Hervieux
By the way, how do you like the tool? Stefane have done it in less than 3 weeks to replace Amanuens.
David Hervieux
thx!
I like it! it deos the job :)
List updating takes a little long after submitting etc.
Hi, there is a lot of dutch translation. How can i test it? Or download it in my production session? from rdp manager?
Hi,
Stefane has now updated the tool. It's now possible to generate your translation on the fly to see the result in RDM.
David Hervieux
cool!
That sentence is missing a word.
Otherwise it works really well! nice work!
Localizer still takes a long time to update the list (while the UI is unresponsive) and it updates the list quite frequently. (Whenever you apply, discard or switch the res file)
It shouldn't take to long to update 2 entries I edited. I think it's loading the entire list every time?
Just saying... if possible an incremental or at least faster update would be awesome.
You are correct, we re-load the entire list every time.
I will talk a look at it today and should be able to get things much faster on update.
Thank you for the feedback
P.S. I will also fix the spelling error :-)
Stéfane Lavergne
Hey everyone,
I've published a new version of the tool 1.2.0.29, it now has faster Save/Discard
If you have any other issues/questions/comments please let me know.
Stefane
P.S. We also pushed out more then 200 new/changed resources ready for translation.
Stéfane Lavergne
I noticed some tricks with the Plural "s", like
"Do you really want to delete the group '{0}' ({1} session{2})?"
I think the best way to make localized singular/plural is to use extra dedicated resource entries.
something like this:
"Do you really want to delete the group '{0}' ({1} {2})?"
txtSessionsPl = "sessions"
txtSessionSgl = "session"
also: How to translate Macro/Script/Tools and what's actually the difference?
Hi,
I will try to improve those with plural.
Macro/Script/Tool is the old Session Script Tools and Session Tool. It's now contains
- macros: like Jitbit. WASP and our own
- scripts: PowerShell, VBScript...
- tools: any command line like ping
David Hervieux
I got this error while trying to Deploy:
http://screencast.com/t/MCHF8dhI
edit: OK I forgot I enabled "Minimize on close" and RDM was still running :)

Suggestion of improvement:
Hidden feature for displaying translation resource names
Add a checkbox "Translator's mode" to the UI options. With that ticked, a translator may use some key combination to switch between selected language and system language (the latter only showing the names of translation resources). This will aid the translator in finding correct location of a translation resource within the application. Even if two resource have the exact same spelling in English, the context may very well determine the choise of words, wordforms and spelling in other languages.

Translates IT systems and applications. My languages are (from strongest to weakest):
Swedish, English, Danish, Norwegian (bokmål), Norwegian (nynorsk) and German
Suggestion of improvement:
Add context information to each resource entry name
Most resources are named according to its English translation. That is not very helpful. It does not tell where or what.
Example
UIResources.resx, lblReEnter with the English translation "Re-enter".
OK, so this tells me it is probably a label and it sounds like an imperative. But where is it used and what does it tell the user to do? Does it want the user to go back into a chat room again? Or, perhaps write a certain text a second time? Is the label commonly used (like in change password dialogues) or in a specific context.
If the above example was namned WizardChangeDataSourceMasterKey_LabelMasterKeyReenter, I would have been in less doubt. If it was a commonly used label, it could be General_LabelReenterInformation. Other general translation would be General_ButtonOK, General_MenuFile, General_MenuFileExit
I know - it is a big job changing all texts throughout the product, but I think it will make it easier to translate. One can sort by context (by sorting names)

Suggestion of improvement:
Possibility to sneak peek on other language's translation
Even if I wouldn't try to translate into the languages French, German or Italian. They would have clues on how to translate into my language. By being able to switch between the original language and a third language (the second being my language) I wouldn't have to change language in the application settings and restart the application all the time.

Suggestion on improvement:
Possibility to translation multiple languages
I soon want to start translate into Danish and perhaps Norwegian (bokmål) and Norwegian (nynorsk). But I don't want to leave the Swedish translation. Could you make it possible to be registerred for several languages and be able to select language on login?

Hi,
Stefane will work on that this week to modify our structure and give you access to more languages. We will try to improve the application to give more details and help you with the context.

In the latest version v1.5.0.0 I've added the ability to translate multiple languages. Please let me know all languages you would like to see. For the moment must enable them on our side (manually).

Stéfane Lavergne
Great!
I think it is always best if you approve and activate languages on your side. But that is really up to you.
I'd like to be activated for Danish as my next language. I'll wait with the other languages until I know I have enough time.
Swedish will be ready before Christmas Eve - Merry Christmas!

Done, you should now see both Danish & Swedish. Let me know if you encounter any issues.
Swedish done for Christmas, that's a nice gift to the Swedish RDM community thanks.

You guys are really quick in this matter. It works. And as you can see, there are only a few phrases left in Swedish (that is if you naughty guys don't add a couple of hundreds of new ones).
The danish language however, will take sonewhat longer. It's been almost two years since I worked professionally as a translator. I'm a bit rusty. I hope I (and you?) can round up some more participants.
I also think the Swedish translation need some extra eyes. Do you know some "professional" users that would like to help?

A wish (or two (or three)):
1) When switching language, I'll stay on the same phrase.
2) Not needing to Save before switching language.
3) Being able to switch to languages I'm not approved for (read only of course).
I hope you don't think of me as a person who nags on everything. You do a great job, but I often have ideas on how to improve.

Alex, suggestions, comments and even wishes are always welcome here at Devolutions. Keep them coming...
Should be easy to do. Will try to add it this afternoon.
Not easy with the current underlying architecture but may not be that hard to change. I will think about it, give me a few days.
The only way, for now, is if I add it as one of your languages. Which other language would you like?
Stéfane Lavergne

We will soon release RDM 10.1. It's a good time to complete the translation before the final release. Thank you very much for you help.
David Hervieux
Do you guys intend to translate it to Brazilian Portuguese?
I'm a professional translator, from Brazil. I could help you guys with that.
@Leonardo,
We just post a blog on the subject two weeks ago
https://blog.devolutions.net/2017/03/devolutions-localizer-needs-you.html
At the end of the blog, it will be possible for you to create you an account on our Devolutions Localizer.

Hello,
I am offical Turkish translater of web systems and applications such as phpMyAdmin, Openoffice, Virtualbox, Daemon Tools applications, so on. I started to translate RDM to Turkish, and I hope and I plan to complete it.
I have some feature requests for Localizer:
- Night mode or it can be dark skin option for night works.
- Multiple row selection for batch status change.
Best Regards,
Burak
Thank you for the suggestion. We plan to do a web based solution soon and we could add some of your suggestion.

David Hervieux
Hello,
Turkish translation of RDM is completed. I need help about some strings which have variables, and installer language file to translate. So I want to learn who is in charge about translations or who is the translation manager to contact him/her?
Also I want to translate mobile apps and "cloud.devolutions.net" site, if you desire. I will need translation strings of them.
Best Regards,
Burak Yavuz
Hello,
You can contact me at infos at devolutions.net. Unfortunately it will not be possible to translate the cloud, it's not the same sub-system.
