Dropbox - current datasource unavailable

Dropbox - current datasource unavailable

avatar

Hello,

I've been using Dropbox for my datasource for a few weeks now with RDM v9.0.2.0 and now I'm getting this error every few hours it seems:

The current datasource is unavailable. The request was aborted: Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel.

In the navigation pane, I just click on local sessions and then back on All Sessions and it reconnects.

This is a strange error. I will verify if Dropbox has some ssl issues.

I'm experiencing the same thing on two machines that use the same Dropbox datasource. Let me know if you need me to provide details/logs/etc.

avatar

Hi,
For how long are you experiencing that ?

André Sanscartier

avatar

As best I can recall, since the upgrade to 9.x.

avatar

I've had this issue since a few days from my original posting. I've been running version 9 from the start and did not experience this. This is still continuing to happen.

avatar

Hi,
Few months ago we had the same issue with DropBox. It was on DropBox side that something was wrong. That why we implemented the "Retry" feature to allow our users to continue despite those disconnections.
Are you able to continue with the "Retry" button ?
On our side , we have the same problem right now but the retry fonction is working.

Sorry for any inconvenient.

Hi,

I've been having the same problem on and off since upgrading to v9. I'm now running 9.0.5.0 and still receive the same error.
When it occurs I have to quit RDM and open it up again.

I'm not having any issues with internet connectivity, access to Dropbox or problems with other applications that rely on Dropbox (e.g. the Dropbox client, 1Password etc).

Thanks.

I'll try the retry button, but what I normally do is just click one of the other tabs in the nav pane and then click back.

Here's the exception:

[11/11/2013 4:06:39 PM]ERROR DropNet.Exceptions.DropboxException: Exception of type 'DropNet.Exceptions.DropboxException' was thrown.

at Devolutions.RemoteDesktopManager.Business.DataSources.DropBoxConnectionDataSource.GetConnections()
at Devolutions.RemoteDesktopManager.Managers.ConnectionManager.LoadConnectionsFromDataSource(BaseConnectionDataSource connectionDataSource)

When this occurs, the Dropbox datasource does not revert to Offline Mode (despite RDM being configured to do so).

Hi,
We're working on a solution. It should be avalaible at the beginning of next week.

Sorry for any inconvenient.

André Sanscartier

avatar

Sorry to pester, but this bug is slowly driving me crazy. I'm working in RDM for most of the day and get this pretty often - I'd say at least a dozen times per day. Any word on a fix?

avatar

Could you try the version 9.0.7.0? The fix was included in this version

David Hervieux

avatar

I can confirm that I haven't see this issue in the latest builds.

I'm using RDM on and off all day and so far not a single issue with Dropbox being unavailable!

avatar

Hmmm...I can try it on my desktop. I've had it installed on my laptop and am pretty sure that it popped up there too.

avatar

The other workaround could be to use an Xml data source and save the file in a Dropbox folder and let Windows (and the Dropbox Native client) handle the sync

David Hervieux

avatar

Running 9.0.7.0 and just received the error.

avatar

Ok. What error message exactly?

David Hervieux

avatar

The same one: The current datasource is unavailable. The request was aborted: Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel.

avatar

I just upgraded and also experiencing this issue. This is beginning to drive me nuts too :P

avatar

Is it possible to use the local xml file saved in a dropbox folder?

David Hervieux

avatar

I can give it a try.

avatar

Thank you. We will continue to investigate the other problem you get.

David Hervieux

avatar

I have the same problem (9.0.7.0) :
The current datasource is unavailable. The request was aborted: Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel.

avatar

André is working on a possible fix.

David Hervieux

avatar

I have the same problem (9.0.8.0) :
The current datasource is unavailable. The request was aborted: Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel.

avatar

Have you tried the workaround? I mean to use an Xml file saved in your dropbox folder? We will continue our investigation.

David Hervieux

avatar

On these computers, we don't have the dropbox software installed

avatar

I've been running 9.0.8.0 for about 24 hours and have not had the SSL error! Looks like you nailed it - thanks!

avatar

I have the same problem (9.0.9.0) :
The current datasource is unavailable. The request was aborted: Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel.

avatar

Rats. After about 48 hours, I got the error. This time, it did not kill the session - it appeared to reconnect automagically.

avatar

That's what had been added in the latest update (automagically). But we weren't sure that could work. Thanks for the feedback.

André Sanscartier

avatar

I have the probklem every 10 minutes (9.0.9.0) :
The current datasource is unavailable. The request was aborted: Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel.

avatar

Hi,
What is your windows version ?

André Sanscartier

avatar

Windows 7 SP1

avatar

Just in case. Does the time in your machine is correctly set ? It could be a cause of secure channel creation failure.

André Sanscartier

avatar

Yes UTC +01:00 16:30

We have the problem on several computers

avatar

Yeah, it's back to its old tricks again and will not automagically(!!!) reconnect the datasource. My time is correct, and I'm switching back to the XML datasource for now.

avatar

I upgraded to 9.0.8.0 recently but I kept getting disconnected. Seems like for the last two days I have NOT been disconnected.

avatar

Two different machines in two locations, same problem. Up to 9.0.10.0 still hasn't solved the issue.

avatar

Could you try the version 9.0.11.0?

David Hervieux

avatar

9.0.11.0 has been working well for me, so far. I left it connected all night, came in this morning, and there was no evidence of a disconnect. Nice.

avatar

I'm still having problems with this issue, on a regular basis and now its been more regular. Currently I'm on version 9.1.2.0 and I try to stay up to date on the releases, but it seems like the issue is still present.

Will this ever be addressed?

avatar

Hi,
We do our best but honestly they don't have an official API for Windows and they seems to change often their core. We try to improve it as much as possible.
