RDM type functions (type password, type clipboard) not working

avatar

I have noticed that since the update to 2026.3.15.0 the functions for typing password and typing clipboard in RDM do not work. I can copy the password to the clipboard successfully and use a different utility to type the clipboard into the RDM session, but having it be an easy one click in the taskbar all within RDM is broken. There are no errors, it just doesn't do anything when you click those buttons in the ribbon.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Devolutions Support.

What you describe matches a change in how Copy username and password works since Remote Desktop Manager 2026.3.14. RDM no longer switches from the username to the password automatically after the first paste. You now tell it when to move to the next value:

  1. Right-click the entry and select Copy username and password.
  2. Click in the username field and press Ctrl+V. The username is pasted.
  3. Press Ctrl+Alt+V. This switches the clipboard to the password; nothing is pasted at this step.
  4. Click in the password field and press Ctrl+V. The password is pasted.

If you skip step 3, the username is pasted again, which is why only the username seemed to work.
We made this change because some applications, including browsers and embedded web sessions, read the clipboard in ways that made the automatic switch unreliable. Sometimes the paste came out empty, sometimes the wrong value was pasted.

If you’re on a version older than 2026.3.14, please update to the latest version first. If the paste still gives nothing in the embedded web connection after updating, you can enable this option: File → Settings → Application → Clipboard → Advanced → Disable null requester check.

Could you confirm which RDM version you’re using, and let me know if this sequence works for you?

Best regards,

Carl Marien

No, that is not what I am referring to. The functionality I am referring to is the type password function from the "Auto-Typing" menu. This is my most used use case in RDM when it comes to passwords (like trying to have it type in the password to an RDP session that went into screenlock for example).

The same issue occurs if I click copy password and then click type clipboard, nothing types. I know the copy function itself works when using control-V, just not the type clipboard option.

The issue appears to be something relating to the auto-typing feature ... it just does not work in RDM currently.

I am on 2026.3.15. I did not have this issue prior to this upgrade to .15
