Remote Desktop Manager Linux freezes and closes when opening multiple embedded SSH sessions

avatar

Environment:
Remote Desktop Manager: 2026.3.1.1
OS: Pop!_OS 24.04 LTS
Base: Ubuntu 24.04 / Noble
Session type: Wayland
Issue:
When I open multiple embedded SSH terminal sessions, Remote Desktop Manager becomes unresponsive and then closes.
The issue is reproducible after opening approximately three SSH sessions.
Before the freeze/termination, the application repeatedly logs GTK errors:
GLib-GObject-CRITICAL: signal 'response' is invalid for instance ... of type 'GtkWindow'
Gtk-CRITICAL: gtk_container_add: assertion 'GTK_IS_CONTAINER (container)' failed
Gtk-CRITICAL: gtk_widget_show_all: assertion 'GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed
Gtk-CRITICAL: gtk_plug_get_id: assertion 'GTK_IS_PLUG (plug)' failed
Gtk-CRITICAL: gtk_widget_hide: assertion 'GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed
Steps to reproduce:

  1. Start Remote Desktop Manager
  2. Open one embedded SSH terminal session
  3. Open a second SSH terminal session
  4. Open a third SSH terminal session
  5. The UI freezes and the application closes

Expected behavior:
Multiple embedded SSH sessions should remain open without freezing or terminating RDM.
Actual behavior:
The UI becomes unresponsive and RDM closes.
Additional information:
The issue occurs under Wayland on Pop!_OS 24.04 LTS.
The GTK errors are reproducible and appear immediately before the freeze.
I also attempted to check for a crash dump using coredumpctl, but systemd-coredump is not currently installed on this system, so I do not have a core dump available at this time.

Hello,
Thank you for the detailed report and the GTK output.
I tried to reproduce the issue on my side by opening several embedded SSH sessions one after the other. RDM stayed responsive and nothing closed.
To rule out a configuration problem on your installation, please reset Remote Desktop Manager to its default settings by following this article:
https://docs.devolutions.net/rdm/knowledge-base/how-to-articles/reset-remote-desktop-manager-to-default-settings#linux
Once that's done, please open three or more embedded SSH sessions again and let me know if the issue still happens.
Best regards,

Carl Marien

Hello Carl,
Thank you for the update.
I also tested the .deb version, and unfortunately the same crash occurs there as well when closing an SSH session.
This appears to be the same issue I also reported here:
https://forum.devolutions.net/topics/56731/remote-desktop-manager-linux-freezes-and-closes-when-opening-multiple-#244937
Because of this, I decided to remain on version 2026.2.2.2 for now, since this version has been stable and does not present the issue in my environment.
Please let me know when a fixed version becomes available so I can test it again.
