Did something change with a recent update? When connect to VMware dashboard that I configured. I now see folder list, where I use to see all the VMs in a list.
Hello,
Could you please confirm if the entries are still listed when you select one of the folders shown in the VMware dashboard?
It’s possible this is related to a new interface or display behavior introduced in a recent update.
Best regards,
Carl Marien
Hello, I've also noticed that in the newest version (v2026.1.20) it now shows the VM folder structure on the left, matching the folder structure we have in VMware. When we select the folder on the left, it shows the VMs in the folder on the right. I hadn't used the VMware Dashboard for a while prior to this though, so I'm not sure when this change was made.
I think this view is nice to have, however @Carl Marien I have a question on this topic - is it possible to make it so when we select a folder on the left, the VM list on the right shows all VMs including those in child folders? Currently it seems to only show VMs that are direct members of the selected folder. Is this an option we can change somewhere?
Edit: And a related question , with the search in the top-right corner of the dashboard - that also appears to only search within the current folder (does not search recursively through subfolders). Can this be adjusted?
Best regards,
David Willis
Hello David,
No, this is currently not supported. The VMware Dashboard only displays/searches the VMs within the selected folder and does not include VMs from child folders.
That said, I can transfer this forum post to our Feature Request forum so our product team can evaluate adding recursive VM listing/search in a future version.
Best regards,
Carl Marien
