Has anyone else noticed Remote Desktop Manager holding onto memory long after all sessions are closed? I'm seeing it sit at ~1.9 GB with 32 threads and zero active desktop connections. No sessions open, nothing connected — just the app sitting idle.
Expected behavior would be for it to release most of that memory once sessions are disconnected, but it seems to just hang onto it indefinitely. Only fix is force-quitting and relaunching.
Running on macOS. Anyone else experiencing this, or know of a setting/workaround to get it to clean up after itself?

Hello,
May I ask what version of RDM you are using ?
RDM Mac 2025.3.9.2 contains a fix for RDP causing a lot of exceptions in the background. I think the main thing it affected was CPU and energy usage, but maybe it can help with memory usage too.

Hello
Further to what Max wrote, Activity Monitor can be misleading here because the system will try to manage memory in an efficient way - if the memory is available, it will use it, but it doesn't necessarily drive memory pressure (things may be cached but purgeable if memory pressure on the system as a whole rises).
For example - before writing this, I checked Activity Monitor on my machine and I see "PerfPowerServicesSignpostReader" (not sure what that is, some kind of system service) "consuming" 53.03GB of memory. My machine only has 32GB memory but my memory pressure is somewhere in the middle of the graph. It's likely got a lot of virtual memory paged but overall it doesn't really matter.
However, I do consider the amount of memory used by RDM when idle to be high in your case and it can be worth looking into it. I think we would need some more background information from your side: what are the specs of your machine, and what is your typical usage pattern with RDM (i.e. I mainly use these kind of sessions, I have a lot of long-lived sessions, I open and close lots of sessions, I typically run the app for days at a time; that kind of thing).
Please let me know if something isn't clear or you have some questions
Kind regards,
Richard Markievicz

Hello,
Thank you for your patience.
Could you please let me know whether RDM, when idle after a reboot, shows the same level of resource usage? Additionally, can you confirm whether you had multiple sessions open before reviewing the Activity Monitor?
Could you also please confirm the following:
I look forward to your reply.
