AWS Console using AWS SSO

Hello,
I’m writing to ask whether the integration of AWS Console sessions with Amazon’s internal authentication system (AWS SSO) is currently on the roadmap or already available.
In our company, we need to manage multiple AWS tenants. To access them, we typically use AWS SSO, which allows a defined user to assume the corresponding IAM roles associated with each tenant.
From what I’ve seen, the current RDM session only supports connecting to a specific tenant using an internal IAM user for that tenant.
Will it be possible to manage access to multiple tenants via AWS SSO in the future?
Thank you!

Hello,

This is not currently supported, but looking into it, the API does seem to support a way to integrate through SSO. We will have to investigate further to see if there's any limitations or how it needs to be configured. For now, I've opened a ticket on our side.

As for supporting multiple tenants, I'm not sure if it's possible at the moment so we will also need to investigate for this.

I'm not sure if this is exactly the same request, but our AWS access is linked to an external identity provider for SSO, - so at present we're not able to use RDM's AWS dashboard session type as we don't have native AWS IAM users.

Hello,

To me it sounds like the same request, which is adding support for SSO login for the AWS dashboard. I believe at the end of the day it will be AWS prompting for your SSO login, so it shouldn't matter what the provider is, but I may be wrong as I've not personally investigated the technical documentation.

I know this isn't going to be implemented in 2026.1 (unless it's a late addition!), but are you able to give any indication of where it may be on the roadmap?

Thanks again for a great product (and the excellent support!)

Hello,

We're currently working on our more detailed roadmap for 2026.2, so we don't have anything set in stone at the moment. I've let the RDM Windows team lead know that this would be a nice addition for our users, but at the moment I can't give you an accurate answer whether it will make it in 2026.2 or not. It's often a question of having too many projects and not enough development time to achieve everything. As ever though, we're always listening to the community and when we see there's a lot of demand for a feature, we make sure to prioritize it so it reaches our users more quickly.
