SFTP File upload not working

avatar

Hello,
I have RDM 2025.2.14.0 (64-bit, JIT) Free Edition. In the SSH terminal, I’m unable to copy files via SFTP from my local PC to a remote Ubuntu folder. Drag and drop is not available. See the attachment.

Hello,

Could you please try with an SFTP session and see if you have the same problem?

I'm trying to reproduce on my end but no luck so far, so I'd like to isolate the issue as much as possible.

No I cannot copy files from SFTP session from RDM, but I can copy files without any problem using winscp outside RDM.

Thank you,

I'm still unsure why this wouldn't work for you. I'll open a ticket with our QA department to see if anyone can reproduce the same issue and come back to you as soon as we make any progress.

Could you please tell me the exact operating system you're on? I have a feeling this could be related.

Thanks

I have Windows Server 2019 Version 1809 (OS Build 17763.7136). To provide you with additional information, this happened after I updated the RDM.

Thank you, we just managed to reproduce on Windows Server 2019 as well.

We've opened a ticket to investigate the issue, and will report back as soon as we have an update.

Hello, is there any update on this bug we reported earlier?

Hello,

Unfortunately, there seems to be a limitation with the library we're using regarding Windows Server 2019. We'll have to reach them and see if there's anything they can do on their side.

We'll update this thread once we know more.

I'm running v2025.3.28.0 64-bit on Windows Server 2022 Datacenter and I can download files using SFTP, but not upload. I take it the bug that was found for Windows Server 2019 also affects Windows Server 2022?

@Hummdis
It works on Windows Server 2022 (both upload and download) for me, but it does not work on Windows Server 2019.

@nikoxal - Thank you for your reply.

Unfortunately, I've read through the docs and even this post without success.

This is on Windows Server 2022 Datacenter version 21H2.

  1. Connect to a system using the SSH terminal connection.
  2. I click on the SFTP option on the tool bar.
  3. When I right-click on a file/folder in the upper panel I get a menu from RDM with the option to download.
  4. When I right-click on a file/folder in the lower panel I get an OS menu, as if I was right-clicking on it in Windows Exporter itself. There's no RDM-style menu and there's no ability to upload. I can't drag-and-drop to upload (I can to download) and so I have to use WinSCP to perform SFTP uploads to servers.

Am I doing these steps wrong?

Hello,

We are still unsure of the limitation that prevents drag-and-drop on certain Windows Servers. In the meantime, we'll open a ticket to implement our own right-click menu so that we can add an upload action.

We'll update this thread once we have any updates.
