Importing KeePass "Direct" mode doesn't work as expected

Importing KeePass "Direct" mode doesn't work as expected

Hey everyone!

I'm trying to import the content of a KeePass database in RDM in my main team vault. And it seems to not work as expected.

After selecting the File > Import > Import from KeePass (link) option, I set the mode to Direct.
I select my database, type the password and then all the entries are shown, where I get to pick what I want to import.
However, if I select any entry and I go to Edit, the mode is switched to Plugin.

I would expect that the initial Mode Selection will automatically apply to all the entries. But this does not seem to be the case.
Instead, I (would) need to review every single item in the list, switch it to Direct, select database, type password...

Is this the expected behavior?
Or am I doing something wrong?

Currently, running the following versions:
RDM: 2024.3.18.0 64-bit
KeePass: 2.57.1 (64-bit)
KeePass plug-in: v2024.7.31.0
DVLS: 2024.3.8.0

Thanks a lot!

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out regarding this matter.

I have successfully reproduced the issue in the same environment as yours and have opened a case with the development team for further investigation.

I will keep you updated as soon as I receive any feedback from them.

Hello Tommy,

Thanks for your reply! Glad you were able to reproduce it and confirm that it's not just a quirk due to some local configurations.

I would add two more notes regarding Direct import:

  1. The entry is still a KeePass object. Not a standard "Username and password" object. This works correctly if imported from an .xml file.
  2. Attachments are not imported. This works correctly if imported from an .xml file.

Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot!

Victor.

Hello,

Thank you for your patience,

Your issue will be fix in the next RDM version (2024.3.21.0).

However, regrettably, the Support Department cannot provide an exact release date as the full process (Build – Quality Assurance – Release) is out of our control.

Best regards,
