Is there a timer setting for when a tab closes if I have it do a Logoff on Close?
Hi,
I use the RDP setting for "Automatically log off when disconnecting". This way I can just click the 'x' in a tab and it automatically does a log off. The problem is that if the logoff takes a bit, or gets stuck, the tab automatically closes after 5-10 seconds.
Many time I have a logoff get stopped because it asks if I want to save a file or something. Before I can click No, the tab disappears and leave me with a disconnected session on the server. I then have to remote back into the servers, resolve the issue, and then log off again. This is very annoying.
Is there either:
1) A way to disable the auto-close feature so if a logoff gets stuck, the tab just stays there waiting?
or
2) A way to increase the amount of time it waits so I have time to go fix the problem before the tab closes?
Thanks.
Hello,
You've asked for something similar in the following thread: https://forum.devolutions.net/topics/41139/could-clicking-the-x-on-an-rdp-tab-not-just-disconnect-the-session
The solution proposed was the following:
> As for the timer, maybe instead of waiting 5 seconds (or whatever it waits for) and then doing a close, it could wait 5 seconds, and then put up a prompt that said "Tab/Program is still open, should RDM close it anyway" or "Logoff appears to not have completed. Disconnect now?
Would this solution still work for you, or would you also want to be able to configure the timeout for this logoff?

Ah,
I thought I had asked about it before but I couldn't find my previous post. Thanks for providing it.
I would be fine with a prompt that would ask me if it should close the tab if it was still open. Or a way to just disable the auto-close completely if the tab was still open.
Thanks.
Perfect, I've addded a few additional information to our currently opened ticket and linked it to this thread as well.

Great. Thanks!
Hi. Just curious if you had an ETA on this. I didn't know if it was an easy fix or if it would be a while before it gets put in.
Thanks.
Hello,
I will see if we can raise the priority. It's an easy change but we both have bugs to fix and a lot of other easy changes requested by our users (as well as bigger projects).

Hello,
We've added the Action on log off timeout, which can be located in File - Settings - Types - Sessions - Microsoft Remote Desktop. It will let you select the desired behaviour when a logoff on closure reaches its timeout.
This will take effect for the upcoming 2024.3.16

Awesome! I'll look forward to find it.
Just got the new version. Tested it out and it works great.
Thanks.
