Feature Request for the Forums Themselves

Good afternoon.

It would be extremely helpful if there was a way someone who reported an issue can mark it as Resolved when it is implemented and fixed.

I notice sometimes y'all mark the Resolved flag when I report something is fixed, and sometimes you don't.

If there was a way we could mark something like "Resolved" and "Workaround Implemented" or something to that affect, that would also help us when we are browsing through the forums to look for items that are labeled as such.

Thanks!

Recommended Answer

Hi @Chuck.

A few updates have been made to the forum since your suggestions and I believe it might fill your need.
Users can now mark an answer as Recommended answer in a topic. The recommended answer will be shown at the top with a banner showing it is the answer for the topic.
Also, when a user mark an answer as the recommended one, it will automatically add the resolved tag to the topic, making it easier to search for topics with resolution.

It is in our plan to add filter directly in the search so you can search for topics with specific tags.

I hope this cover your need, don't hesitate to reach out if you have anything to add.

Best regards,

Vincent Forest

Good afternoon,

Thank you for your thoughtful suggestion about enhancing the forum's functionality. Your idea of allowing users to mark their own posts as "Resolved" or "Workaround Implemented" echoes our commitment to creating an environment where information is more accessible.

I have added your feature request to our internal tracking system. As you rightly guessed, we need to ensure that any changes we make maintain the integrity and structure of our forums, which means it could take some time to implement such a feature effectively. We will definitely investigate the best way to automate this process and make sure it aligns well with our existing workflows.

Thank you once again for taking the time to make this suggestion.

Best regards,

Thanks for the response, David.

I'm glad you are on the same page.

It would just make it so much easier when let's say searching for "KeePass". If I see 17 different posts about KeePass, and one of them marked Resolved, I'm going to start there. If one shows "Workaround", then I am going to read that one, and know I have a place to start to figure out where my problem(s) lie. If there aren't any marked with anything, then it's honestly more than likely why people would open a topic that may have been resolved somewhere else.

Sometimes they are so long, and the fix is somewhere in the middle of the post, but with the length, it just gets passed on by.

Thank you for taking the time to listen to us, and thank you for employing a great support staff to assist us and all our issues and suggestions,

This is awesome! I have noticed the "Vote" option on the forums lately, but haven't come across one yet where I could mark it as Resolved, such as this one.

I look forward to seeing that option in the future.

Thanks for the update!

@Chuck
Happy to hear that!
Regarding the Vote option, it is for now specific to the Feature request section only, it allows users to vote and let us know they would also want this feature to be implemented, so the more vote a feature request has, the more we know community would like the feature and it might affect how we prioritize some tasks in our backlog.
Also, just to be more specific, you can only mark an answer as recommended on topics that you have created, you can't do it on other user's topic.

Hope this cover everything, thanks again.
