Reconnect to Devolutions Gateway after Network changed

Reconnect to Devolutions Gateway after Network changed

avatar

Hello, I'm currently testing RDM (already licensed) with Devolutions Server and Devolutions Gateway (both with test license) and I have the following "issue":
I configured a RDP client to use the Devolutions Gateway. Now when i have the session opened and i switch from LAN to WLAN the connection to the RDP client gets dropped but wont reconnect as soon I have network again (~5 second delay). I can see that RDM is re-authenticating to the Devolutions Server and as soon as this happened I get the "This computer can't connect to the remote computer" message.
Reconnect mode on the RDP client is set to "Standard" (I already tried Full and Smart, with the same behaviour), VPN reconnect mode is also set to "Default" (I already tried Reconnect VPN)

Thanks,
Raphael

Hello Raphael,

The issue is that the authorization token for the Devolutions Gateway is only valid for 5 minutes, meaning that if the connection was opened for more than 5 minutes, RDM needs to request a new token from the Devolutions Server to establish the connection.

I am curious, however: do you have the Force token public IP validation configured? https://docs.devolutions.net/kb/devolutions-server/how-to-articles/force-token-ip-validation/#solution

Hello Richard,

thanks - I thought that there might be some kind of token magic was going on.
So this would be a normal behaviour with a network change to not get a full reconnect of an existing connetion via Gateway?

Force token public IP validation is configured on the our Server.

Raphael

Hello Raphael,

The issue may be with the Force token public IP validation after all. I just tested it on my end, and if I go from my wireless network to the VPN, my Devolutions Gateway RDP session stays connected. Could you try to turn off that feature and try it again?

Could you also confirm your version of Devolutions Server and RDM? I tested it on 2023.2.6 and 2023.2.27 respectively.

Best regards,

Hello Richard,

I have disabled the Force token public IP validation but still cannot reconnect. Are there any Logs from RDM or Server I can provide?

My Devolutions Server has Version 2023.2.6.0 and RDM has 2023.2.24.0

Thanks, Raphael

Hello,

I have created a case for your issue, and you will be contacted by email via service@devolutions.net . You can send the RDM application logs and the Devolutions Gateway logs there.
