We are running RDM via RDS for security reasons, as only this RDS Server can access the customer networks.
We now also have TeamViewer Connections in RDM, which are opening on the RDS Server now, which is sometimes a bit slow.
So is there a way, that RDM could open our locally installed Teamviewer instead? I already tried selecting the local installation for opening the RDM sessions, but it would still open it in a RDS window.
I thought perhaps there is a function in RDM to open certain connection with a local Teamviewer or any other program for that matter.
Thanks and Cheers
Patrick
Hello Mr. Mad,
Thank you for contacting us on that matter.
Could you tell me if you have set your Teamviewer path to your local drive?
This feature could be viewed or changed by going to File -> Options -> Paths -> Configure Installations Path -> Teamviewer.
Let me know if this helps you.
Best regards,
Patrick Ouimet

Hey Patrick
Yes I tried that already, it then opens my local Teamviewer Installation in a window of the RDS server 😂

Hello,
RDM won't be able to communicate with your local Team Viewer if it's running in RDS. There is no channel and it's a limitation of RDS, not Remote Desktop Manager.

Hey David
Thanks, the longer I thought about it, I came to the same conclusion.
But perhaps we could do it the other way round, change the RDM in the network which can access all the customers networks to a Jump Host and than use RDm locally again (with local Teamviewer) and RDP trough the jump hosts.
Does the Jump hosts also work for Websites, like firewall GUIs?
Cheers

Hello Patrick,
Yes, it does! To see more on this feature, please consult this link:
https://docs.devolutions.net/rdm/windows/overview/the-devolutions-platform/rdm-jump/#configure-a-jump-host
Let us know if you require further assistance.

Hey James
Thanks a lot. Is it possible to use an RDM instance normally and as a Jump Host at the same time? Or can't it be used on the server anymore as soon as it is a jump host?
Cheers
Patrick
Dear Patrick,
I am grateful for your prompt response.
Regrettably, RDM currently does not offer a feature to establish a session for both a jump host and a regular one simultaneously. Would it be possible for you to consider duplicating your entry if you require both?
Best regards,
Patrick Ouimet
Hi Patrick
I don't mean the entry I use to go via a Jump host. I mean can I use the Machine on which I install RDM and use as a Jump host, (chek the option "is jump host") still be use normally? Or is a machine which is set as jump host, only usable as jump host after that?
Kind regards.
Patrick
Hello Patrick,
Thank you for being patient.
I checked the Jump Host option In RDM.
The machine you are using as a jump host could be used as a normal workstation for your RDM as well.
Best regards,
Patrick Ouimet
Hi Patrick
Thanks a lot! That helps!
Cheers
