Camera pass-through

avatar

I'm not able to pass-through my Android Samsung Tab s8+ webcam in the RDM app, nor another USB webcam connected externally to this tablet. I've seen that in the 'normal' RDP app (i.e. when connecting from e.g. Windows pc -> Windows pc), there should be a checkbox under local resources to pass through "Other supported Plug and Play (PnP) devices" (as suggested here). However, this option is not available in the RDM app for Android. Hence, the question is how to pass-through a local webcam (either the built-in of the tablet/phone or an external connect one) in the Android app? For reference, Microsoft's RDP app supports this - Devolution's RDM app is infinitely better but just wanted to highlight it because that may be a signal that it could be an easy fix if it's a new feature.

Not sure if I should post this here or in the feature request subforum, as I'm not sure if it is a bug specifically for my version or if it is a feature that is missing.

My setup:

  • Samsung Tab s8+ running Android 13, OneUI 5.1
  • Devolutions RDM 2023.1.2.0
  • External screen: LG 27UP85NP-W, connected via USB-C, running 4k@60hz
  • I'm (thus) running RDM in Dex mode, but the issue is also present if I run RDM in non-DEX mode on my tablet without the external screen connected.

Thanks and again awesome app, keep up the good work.

Hi,

After investigation, we do not currently support it. We will create a feature request for it. However, please note that It is not something we plan on supporting in the near future and we do not have a time frame for its implementation.
