Is there any possibility to tunnel the local Webcam trough the RDP session?
With the RDP-Tool from Microsoft you can select it from Local Resources -> Local devices and resources -> More -> Video capture devices and it works flawless.
I see most of those options in Remote Desktop Manager under the same title but no Video capture device part. I checked every option but didn't succeed.
Would be a big + for remote workers who connect remotely to their work horse but want to participate in video calls.
Hello,
We will look into it to see if the Microsoft ActiveX supports this.

I too would find this extremely useful, especially since I am working from home and have been since March. If I want to have video then I have to initiate MS RDP which kind of makes the use of RDM a little pointless.
Thanks for the feedback. As an update, it seems to be possible to achieve with the ActiveX, so it's definitely going on our todo list. As of yet I can't give you an estimate on when we will have time to work on this though.

will be waiting for this update so that I do not have to switch to MS RDP when I need to join calls where integrated video is needed.
Would love to have this option available also! Can't wait!
Hello,
This feature has been implemented and will be available in the 2021.1.0 release.
In order to support this, these two Group Policies must be set :
You may have to set these on both the RDP client and the local computer.
For embedded sessions, all you'll need to do is enable the option "Other supported Plug and Play (PnP) devices".
For external sessions, there will be a separate option to redirect cameras. You'll also need to make sure WMI requests are enabled on your local computer.

Any update on available date for release 2021.1.0?
Feature Request = Ability to add custom RDP strings in the RDM Session Connection Properties
Native *.rdp file supports camera redirect with 'camerastoredirect:s:<PnPDeviceMap>'
Example:
camerastoredirect:s:\\?\usb#vid_046d&pid_081b&mi_00#7&d272bbd&0&0000#{e5323777-f976-4f5b-9b55-b94699c46e44}\{bbefb6c7-2fc4-4139-bb8b-a58bba724083}
Looks something like this in GUI.
@gozaimasu,
RDM 2021.1.X beta should be release in a week or two if everything goes well :)
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
Hello,
Just to clarify : For now, the webcam redirection option will redirect all of your connected webcams. Eventually we will add a way to specify which specific webcam you want to share by entering it's deviceID (for external sessions only).

Hi - Tried and still doesn't work. Anything I'm missing?
Thanx.
Hello,
I'd like to confirm a few details with you before looking more into this :
If so, are you opening your session in external or embedded mode ?
Regards
Jonathan Del Signore
Confirmed. Not working here, either, embedded.
Yes. Local Policies set on both machines (they are not domain members).
Hey Jonathan,
Running RDM 2021.1.11.0. Did edit both local GPOs. Tried both external and embedded. Works no issues with native RDP client.
Thanx.
Taz
Hello,
Thanks for the clarification. We're not sure at the moment what could be causing this exactly, so we'll keep digging and come back to you as soon as we have more info.

Hello,
We've made a fix that prevented some webcams to be redirected. We suspect the issue was caused by the RemoteFX redirection, which is not supported by all webcams. Unfortunately, RemoteFX seems to be required for ActiveX (which we use for embedded sessions), so this fix will only apply to external sessions.
This will be included in version 2021.1.18. Please tell us if that fixes your issues.

That makes sense. My host-machine webcam is OLD!
IMO: "Embedded functionality" would be "required" to acquire Company-Wide adoption, here.
Looking FWD to updates for personal use, regardless!!!
Bumping this thread to see if any progress has been made.
Hello,
The issues we were having with the redirection of webcams through embedded RDP sessions have been fixed and are available in the latest stable version.

Hi
Bumping again.
As of 2021.2.28 what are the steps we should take on both host and client machines to get webcam redirection working?
Using embedded window I'm not getting the client camera to appear in host inventory.
I enabled PNP devices in my RDP profile and checked that Camera Privacy settings were turned "off" on both machines.
Hello,
Webcam issues were fixed in 2022.1, so I suggest you give the latest version a shot (2022.1.21.0 at this moment). There will be a new "Cameras" checkbox that you'll need to enable.

Ohh cool,
I didn't realize that my RDM was out of date, thanks!
I tested it out with a Teams call and I'm only seeing my camera as gray.
Any tips? The other side reported that they can see me fine however. I can see them from the Teams window as well.
Was the same when I did go about and try changing the Group policies on both host and client machines. Should I revert all the settings I changed?
Client:
Host:
Is the issue only happening with Teams ? Or is it also greyed out when using the default Windows Camera app ?
I don't believe these group policies are the problem here.

I googled a bit and seems that it' might be an issue with the graphics driver. I used a Terminal server not an actual computer to test it so it's very well possible.
Will try it with an actual computer some of these days and let you know.
For future refrence. Is camera/microphone redirection supposed to work out of the box now with the new RDM agent and settings or are those grouppolicies still needed?
Following our recent changes, the group policies I mentioned earlier are not needed anymore. I myself have them all set to "Not configured", and everything works fine.
