Expand/Collapse a subset of folders in a folder hierarchy

In RDM (Free and Enterprise), it would be nice if there were a way to Expand/Collapse a subset of folders in a folder hierarchy. Right now it seems that the only way to Expand/Collapse folders is with the "Expand All" and "Collapse All" features and that does it for all folders in the datastore.

For example, if someone has a datastore with lots of top-level folders it would be nice to Expand/Collapse one of those folders without it impacting all of the other folders in the datastore.

There are some key mappings already

  • collapse : left-arrow or - (minus)
  • expand current : right-arrow or + (plus)
  • expand all from here * (star)

Stéfane,

A little background. I reached out to Devolutions support this morning (LIVE CHAT) asking about this and they said that functionality was not in the product and to open up a "Feature Request" ticket.

Also, those key mappings are nice, but I cannot seem to get the "expand all from here * (star)" to work for me. The other two work great.

Any suggestions?

Sincerely,

Stéfane,

I got the "expand all from here * (star)" to work for me.

My issue was that I had "***" defined in a folder name and whenever I did that particular keystroke the UI focused directly on the entry with the "*" in it. Once I renamed that entry and took the "*" out of it, the keyboard shortcut worked as you described.

I now have all the functionality that I need for this request.

Thank you,

Richard Mulrain

I'm glad it works for you.

I will let the live chat team know that we support this feature. It's actually built-in to any Windows application that has a tree view. Windows Explorer, for example, supports it. In this case * (star) will always work since you can't have * (star) in a windows folder or file name.
