Auto update error message in RDM

avatar

Hello,
It's possible that you might get an error message while clicking on the new version available message. It seems that a bug in the auto update was introduced in the previous version. This is now fixed but we can't automatically update your current version.

You can download and install the update directly from here:

Free
https://cdn.devolutions.net/download/Setup.RemoteDesktopManagerFree.2022.1.27.0.exe

Enterprise
https://cdn.devolutions.net/download/Setup.RemoteDesktopManager.2022.1.27.0.exe

Hello,

thanks for the update.
One of my colleagues seems to have the same issue with the enterprise version. Is a update for the enterprise version also available?

Thanks a lot!

Hello,
The RDM Enterprise update will come later today.

hello i also just noticed this today as well, saying the new version is higher than maximal version on devolutions server when the maximal version isn't actually enabled on the server. I don't know if this will affect connection to the server as i've told people to hold off updating it.

EDIT: on the server ticking the maximal version box and changing the version to a higher version number (i set it to 2099.2.29.0) then unticking the maximal version box makes the message stop displaying. Looks like it doesn't care if the setting is enabled or not.

Hello Craig,

Thanks for reporting this, we will work on a fix for our next minor RDM version (2022.1.23.0). It should indeed not be taken into account if the option isn't checked.

Hi

Since this thread is pinned, and a new version and 1.13 isn't the newest and a .2 on its way, maybe the links should be changed to the download page, or a "Newest version" direct link if you support such.

Hello support71,

please have a look over this post.

Hello support71,

In addition to what Min said, for the error you receive, are you on MariaDB or MySQL? We have received a few reports from our users specifically on those datasources and are working on a fix.

The cause of this issue is that the MariaDB/MySQL datasource you're on doesn't have any user on the RDM side of things, and RDM (due to a bug) is unable to create the user dynamically. To resolve this you can connect to your MariaDB/MySQL datasource with RDM 2022.1, and in Administration > Users, you can add a new user matching with your database user, just like this:

Simply make sure that the username matches the one you have configured when you log into the datasource.

Please note that you should uncheck "create database login/user" since it already exists on your MariaDB/MySQL.

As mentionned we are currently working on a fix for this that will be available in RDM 2022.2.14.0. We will be releasing this minor update as soon as we can.

Thank you, this works indeed

Hello Mireault,

I have done the described steps with version 2022.1.27 and created a user with the same name as the MYSQL user.
But with the new RDM version still appears the error message I described above.
Do I need to install the new RDM version again, or how can I solve the problem?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

For Mysql I don't know how it looks like, but for the MariaDB the user you need to create manually needs to be the same as in the Data Sources username (the one in RED):

Hello,

As mentioned by support71, it has to be the same user as you have configured when connecting to the datasource in RDM.

Additionally, RDM 2022.2.14.0 is released and should contain a fix for this issue.

Thank you Mireault,
I have installed the *.14 over *.13 and still have the same problem.
With my old RDM Version 2022.1.27 on an other pc, I can still work

@support71, thanks for helping! I have mariaDB and I have created an RDM user, same name as the DB-USER.

Cheers TBC

@RH Are you talking about the min/max version warning?

You must reconfigure (or disable) version management. Administration > System Settings > Version Management.

@vrockdest

I'm not sure I follow you.

Can you please elaborate?
What exactly is your issue?
What version are you on?
