RDM will not close if there are open connections

RDM will not close if there are open connections

avatar

It has been happening for a while now. If I have a connection open (Any type of connection) and go to close by going to the top right X and clicking it, I get no feed back or anything, it just sits there. Previously, when I would go to close with an open connection, it would ask me if I was sure I wanted to close the connection and then the application.

The same problem happens when I go to File > Exit.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us on that matter!

In order to help me determine what could be causing this issue, I have a few questions for you.

  • What version of RDM do you currently use?
  • What type of data source do you use?
  • What connection types do you use in RDM that cause this behavior?

Best regards,

  • What version of RDM do you currently use?

RDM 2021.1.44.0 64_Bit but it was happening with 41 previously.

  • What type of data source do you use?

MariaDB/MySQL Database.

  • What connection types do you use in RDM that cause this behavior?

Doesn't matter what connection type it is, be it RDP, SSH. If I have a webpage open, the X button works as expected.

Hello,

Thank you for your response!

I would like to offer a test, and a potential solution to the issue. I would like to verify if using brand new configurations, by temporarily removing your current configurations, changes the behavior in any way. Here are the steps to do this :

1.Close RDM, and make sure it's not running in your Task Manager anymore. Otherwise, the next steps will not work.
2.With the file explorer, navigate to %localappdata%\Devolutions
3.Create a new folder in this location and call it Backup
4.Move all your files from the RemoteDesktopManager folder to the Backup folder
5.Launch RDM. It will automatically recreate all the files that were moved to the backup folder.
6.Register the application
7.Connect to your data source through File > Data Sources and verify if the issue still occurs.

Let me know how that goes!

Best regards,

The problem has stopped occuring for some reason. I'll keep an eye on it and if it starts happening again, I will give it a try.
