Private Vault entries disappearing.

Hi, I'm having an issue where an entry in my private vault keeps disappearing after a few weeks. The entry in question is username/password that I use for overwriting login credentials. This has worked for years, but up until a few months ago I have to keep re-adding it every few weeks. Any ideas?

Thank you for contacting us on that matter!

In order to help us determine what could be causing this issue, I have a few questions for you.

  • What version of RDM do you currently use?
  • What is the type of data source you use?
  • Does this issue affect all the new entries you create in your Private vault?
  • Can you think of any changes to your RDM environment that could have occurred shortly before to this issue started?

In our team we have similar issues, but not that frequent. (I had this problem once, last week, a colleague of mine had it 2x). it was mainly when the machine was locked for longer time, and the VPN had already disconnected. so the datasource went offline. but then the private vault was completely empty, all entries gone.
My personal problem was then that I had to retrieve my complex password from my store but it was empty, and I need the password to start the VPN to refresh the cache...
I'm not 100% sure if refreshing ( alt-f5) or offline/online restores the content. don't know if this completely matches the o.p. question or whether it is related...

We're Using RDM 2021.1.32.0 (most of my colleagues using 2021.1.26.0). on a SQL datasource, with 'offline' enabled.

Do you have anyone using RDM 2020.3.x or lower?

We had a bug where if you have an RDM version less than v2021.1 running on the database that this would cause user vaults to be wiped.

The issue has been resolved but you might not have the fix. To find out please send us your database schema (File > Data Sources > Upgrade (tab) > Email Schema to Support). Please mention this Forum thread when submitting your schema. If your schema is missing the fix, we will send you a SQL script that will prevent further loss of user vault sessions. There is not much we can do with sessions that have been lost, other than recover from a backup.

I would also suggest you configure the Data Source Settings Version Management.
