Hello,
I am running Remote Desktop Manager Enterprise 2021.1.21.0.
Every 5-10 minutes the application will spike my CPU to 100%. It sits at 100% for about 30 seconds and then goes back down to normal.
The datasource is an SQL server on the local LAN.
Any ideas what might be causing this?
Hello,
What type of session are opened when this occurs? Are you using Chrome embedded as example?
You can also try to upgrade to the latest release which is 2021.1.40.0. You can download it here

Hi Jeff,
These are all RDP sessions.
I was previously using the latest version however was experiencing delays with saving; so have downgraded to this version.
Hello,
How many RDP sessions are opened?
How many entries do you have in your vault? Maybe you can post a screenshot of your Help -> Diagnostic -> Datasource tab report
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
I have a single RDP connection open at the moment and am receiving the CPU spikes.

Hello,
I see why you mentioned that editing is slow or was slow.
Firstly, you are not using the local cache. The intelligent cache is disabled, so, this means that you are communicating with the database all the time and when you want to edit an entry, all of them are reloaded. Enabling the caching will help a lot. To do so, go in File -> Datasources -> Edit -> Advanced tab and change the caching mode option to Intelligent.
Secondly, you have 15084 entries in RDM separate in 2 vaults. For better performance, having them in 5-6 vaults will help a lot as well. We recommend having around 3000 entries per vault for an optimize performance - https://kb.devolutions.net/rdm_vaults_overview.html
In conclusion, regarding the CPU peak , I am currently testing. I will get back to you later today on this.
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
Hello @jason17
Sorry to intervene, could you please check these two things, as my CPU did spike on the same version and these are the steps I did to restore everything.
There should be a small CPU demand at startup, which is normal, but then everything should be back to normal.
Best regards,
Christine Breault

Thank you for your reply.
I've just followed your instructions. My Profiler Level was already set to 1, and my Deb Level was set to 0.

Hi Jeff,
My data source is already configured for Intelligent caching. Could this be a setting on the server preventing this from working?
Hello,
I had in mind that you local cache was turn off because of this
This indicate that the local cache is off locally on your workstation. Strange that is was on, but that the report indicate that it's turn off.
Regarding the CPU peaks, I tried to reproduce it all day Friday and I was not able. I also checked if other customers reported the same issue and you are the first one.
Is there other users with the same issue in your organization?
What version of Windows are you running?
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
Hello,
I know one of my colleagues is having the same issue - his version of RDM is very out of date however.
My Windows version is 21H1.
Hello,
Our QA team is testing RDM 2021.1.41.0. Maybe we should wait this release and test it when it will be available.

Hello,
RDM 2021.1.41.0 has been released this morning. Could you give it a try?
You can download this version of RDM here

Jeff Dagenais
Hello,
I have installed the new RDM version as you have suggested.
Unfortuantely this causes another issue that I've seen in the past. When making changes in RDM it now takes 50+ seconds for the save to be process.
Let me make some optmizations to my database and I will test again.
Hello,
I am surprised that you didn't encounter the slowness sooner with the number of entries that you have.
As recommended previously, separating your sessions into multiple vaults should help.
