Howto switch license mode from Datasource to enterprise

Hi, we have the following situation:
Earlier we had 2 site licenses for RDM, meaning we repackaged the RDM software, and placed the license key in an advanced datasource so each team could have their own license.

Now we recently bought a new, global license (expensive, but YEEY) so we can now repackage the software including our license key and nobody should bother me about it again.

But: how do I switch EXISTING users from 'use registration from data source' to: 'Enterprise Edition' without telling them the license key?
If I switch over, it requires me to specify the Serial number, and I personally have it for the whole company, but don't want to just give it to everyone.
This dialog cannot be closed without specifying the serial number, even though the product is already licensed.

(See also the forum thread of hiding this information from users ).. Hide RDM Enterprise product registration information in the product "Help > Register Product..." page - Devolutions Forum

Note that the current screenprint is taken from an installation that was done using the repackaged RDM including the license key. so the application is licensed,
which we can see on another computer where the application is installed without ever configuring a data source:

Hello,

To assign the new global license to existing users without sharing it, you can go in Administration - Licenses. When adding the license, you could assign it to existing user accounts in Assigned To tab with the Assign All button. Then, when a user will connect to the data source, RDM will grab the global license key.

Hi Erica
I'm sorry this doesn't answer my question.
We already have the global license in our datasource, but since datasource admins can read/copy it we would like to repackage the application with the lower radio button from the 'Register the Application' dialog.
So I'm trying to repackage the app with the serial included in the package itself (which should now be hidden see other thread) but I find that users still have the middle option selected (use from datasource).
If I ask them to move the selected radio button from the 2nd (use from datasource) to 3rd it asks for information that is already repackaged and I don't want to share it with them...

or is my solution to just remove the serial from all datasources, will all connected clients automatically switch over to the 3rd option?

Hello Ben,

Thank you for your swift reply!

I have opened a case with our Engineering Department to see what can be done. We will be in touch as soon as we will have an update on that matter.

Hello,

I did some tests, and was able to confirm that it is possible to deploy the license configuration through the .cfg file without making the serial number visible by users.

If you go to Administration > System Settings > Serial Number and enable "Hide local license serial number", save your serial number under Help > Register Product with the option "Enterprise Edition", you can safely share the .cfg file to your users through the method of your choice. The "Hide local license serial number" option will ensure that your users cannot see the serial number even once their instance of RDM uses this .cfg.

I recommend to generate your .cfg file through the File > Options > Export Options menu, to manage what options you wish to include or exclude from the .cfg file you will deploy to your users.

Don't hesitate to let us know if you have any additional questions regarding this case!
