Hello,

Thank you for contacting us. The Keep template name on use in the Template setting, if enabled, will when creating a new entry from template use the information
in the Template name of the template and copy it in the Name of the new entry.

Keep template name on use location:

When I create an entry from a template, the name field is always prefilled with the template name, regardless of whether this option is activated or not.

RDM 2020.2.20.0 with DPS 2020.2.10.0 Datasource

My Templates are Account, Credential, Folder, RDP, TeamViewer, Host,...

I have also deleted the Folder Template and created a new one. Still the same.

Thank you for this information.

I was able to replicate your issue and I have created a bug ticket for further investigation. The behavior is different in a SQL server data source for the same option.

do you mean DPS 2020.3.8.0 and RDM 2020.3.12.0?
becaus i cant finde any hint of this fix in the release notes.

do i need to update both for this fix to work?

I got the information from the ticket we created for the engineering for this issue DPS-4461.

Yes you need to upgrade both and it is also to respect the schema of the applications.

Hello,

i have upgraded to RDM 2020.3.14.0 and DPS 2020.3.8.0.
For me the problem still persists. Can you reproduce it?

Thank you for your swift reply! Since this issue persists with these version, would it be possible for you to create a portable version of RDM and see if it still occurs with it?
To do so, you will need to do the following:

1- Download the .zip file below:
https://remotedesktopmanager.com/home/thankyou/rdmbin
2- Create a new folder on your Desktop
3- Extract the content of the .zip file into the folder created at #2
4- Go in this folder once the .zip file has been extracted and run remotedesktopmanager64.exe
5- Enter your current serial
6- Connect to your DPS by adding a Data Source under File -> Data Sources

Thank you for performing this test!

I think we might a found a workaround for this issue. Are you by any chances using the web interface of DPS from time to time to create your Template?
Could you please go in the properties of one of your Template through RDM, make sure that the option "Keep template name on use" is unchecked, and then click on "Ok" to close the window? Once this is done, try to create a new entry using this template and see if it still use the name of the Template.

I have no idea how you come up with these suggested solutions.
For me they did not work.

Isn't it possible to make a permanent fix instead of trying workarounds?

Hello Kritzinger,

The workaround was only a way for you to be able to use this feature until a fix is found. That being said this issue has been reported in DPS-4504 and I will contact you once I will have an update on that matter.
