RDP inband selection destination

RDP inband selection destination

avatar

Hi,

We are using a tool to proxify RDP connections.
the usage to connect to the final destination is:

Computer: Proxy_IP
Username: username%final_target_ip

The credentials (managed by Secret Server) are like username / password

I am able to mimic this with user%$CUSTOM_FIELD1$ in the Username field but as long as I select Credential Repository I cannot "customize" the username anymore

Is it possible to add a suffix value in RDM to have the credentials sent to PROXY_IP as username%final_target_ip ?

Thanks for your help
Regards
Cédric

Hi Cedric,

For this specific usage, have you try to add "%$CUSTOM_FIEL1$" text in the Username field in Secret Server credentials?

You could create a specific credential for Profixy RDP connections. I'm not sure if RDM will understand $CUSTOM_FIELD1$ variable.

Hi David,

if I change the Secret Server username then auto password change functionality will not work anymore.

The specific credential will not fit the use case as we are using the same credentials on different connections.

The easiest "for me ;-)" would be RDM adding a defined suffix once it retrieves the username from secret server.

Another solution would be to be able to customize the username format in the advanced parameters of the secret server connection (see attached picture)

Cheers

Hi,

You are right, using the change password feature from Secret Server will stop to work.

As you mentioned one of the best options could be to add a Username format with a custom field. Even if we get credentials from the credential repository.
