session in private vault using a credential repository wich is in the "all entries"
Hi,
How to create a session in private vault using a credential repository wich is in the "all entries"?
The credential repository is a connection to thycotic secret server (with defined credentials selection).
in the private vault when creating a MS RDP session there is no "credential repository" option for credentials.
I would like my users to use one shared & predefined connection to Thycotic secret server
Thanks
Cédric
Hello,
Unfortunately if the session is in the private vault the credentials will have to be located there as well.
That being said, the other way around is possible (Using private vault credentials for session in "all entries") using the user specific setting option in the properties of a session.

Why?
We have users who want to connect to "their" machines using Credentials from the central Credential Repository (Secret Server).
This (Private Vault + Credential Repo) has been working in previous versions!
Can you make this working again please?!
thanks Peter
@Peter,
Could you elaborate on your issue please, not sure to fully understand what is the issue here.
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
We want sessions in the private vault which connect with the normal shares central Credential Repository (Secret Server).
This has been working in previous versions (11.x)
Hello,
I see what you mean. Thank you for the explanation.
I will verify this with our engineering department and get back to you.

Hello Peter,
The reason why we removed this feature is to prevent possible security holes through the private vault. Because users can create entries of any type and with any configuration in there, we feared that they could find a way to extract the password even if they didn't have the rights to view it (through the use of a command-line entry or a macro, for example).
We understand your need, especially since RDM permitted this in the past. We'll add a datasource setting to reestablish the ability to link to the credential repository from the private vault. It won't be enabled by default so you'll have to change it first.

Hubert Mireault
Thank you!
Looking forward to get this feature back!

Peter
It should be available in the next minor RDM update as the change has just been made internally. :) The option is located in the datasource settings in the "general" tab.
