Batch Edit does not work in 8.0.5.0

Batch Edit does not work in 8.0.5.0

Hi,

The "Batch Edit" -> "Edit Sessions (User Specific Settings)..." on RDP connections doesn't work any more. More so, it will often wipe out old credentials, but won't set new ones. The functionality is very buggy.

If I select a few RDP connections it works, but if I select 10 or more, it doesn't. I'm not sure if it's due to some connections having different settings, or being in different folders, or that I'm selecting too many. However, I have hundreds of connections that I work with, and being able to set this setting is amazingly useful for me. In fact, all of the Batch Edit tools are immensely beneficial to me.

This problem was also in 8.0.4.0

Thanks,

Uriah

Hi,
Is it possible that some of them are using the Credential Repository? This should not related to the number of session selected.

None of them are using Credential Repository. We don't have anything stored in the Credential Repository, and all of them are set to "Default". I did a Batch Edit -> General Settings -> Tools -> Override -> Use default credentials -> OK, just to make sure.

Also, I should point out that, every other Batch Edit method, after I press "OK" it then deselects everything I had selected and edited (which is annoying if I want to do multiple Batch Edits, but not the point), this does not happen when I do Batch Edit -> User Specific Settings. Which might suggest that it's just not doing the operation.

I tried many different scenario and I'm still unable to reproduce both: override problem and deselect one too. Do you use the ribbon or another UI?

I've attached a screenshot of the UI I'm using. I think this is the ribbon one. I've upgraded this installation since version 6. On version 7 and below, we never had these problems, despite the exact same database existing.

Okay, I think I've figured out what is happening, but I've thought this several times now, so I can't be certain.

If I do a batch edit of user specific settings, I tick override credentials, set a custom username, domain, and password, then press OK. If I then wait a few minutes, right click and go to batch edit of user specific settings, sometimes it won't have changed anything.

However, if I do the original batch edit, then immediately after I press the refresh button, then I right click and go to the batch edit of user specific settings again, it will now have changed them. This seems to work pretty consistently.

While sometimes the batch edit works the first time, as soon as it stops, all I have to do is hit refresh, and suddenly my changes have worked.

Not quite sure what's happening, maybe it's due to the batch edit being done on the SQL Server, and my local cache not being refreshed off of it.

I haven't used all the other batch types, but the ones I have used haven't had this problem.

Hopefully this gets you on the right track.

Hi,
I think that I've found the problem. This will be in the v8.0.8.0

You have the right workaround by doing refresh after your changes.
