Hi,
I have the following issue.
When connecting with RDP to a Citrix XenApp 6.5 Windows 2008 R2 server, with credentials coming from the credential repository the login always fails.
You need to provide the password manually again and then you are logged on.
What could this be?
Cheers!
Sjoerd
If you connect in embedded mode with the credentials saved in the database, does it work?
David Hervieux
David,
That results in the same problem.
Cheers!
Sjoerd
Perhaps there is a policy to disable the save password:

David Hervieux
It works perfect when using the Citrix ICA session type. So it couldn't be a policy.
Cheers!
Sjoerd
But the policy applies only to RDP, isn't it?
David Hervieux
Yes, but the policy is not set. It only happens when having Citrix XenApp on Windows 2008 R2 server and then connect with saved credentials using the Citrix Session Type...
Cheers!

Perhaps this thread could help you?

David Hervieux
David,
This thread crossed my forum search earlier. There aren't many related to Citrix.
But this has nothing to do with my issue.
Look at the screens to see what I mean:

(original setting is with cred.repository)

After pressing OK on the error

Does it work if you use mstsc.exe and save the password?
David Hervieux
It's solved in version 7.9 ;) I just downloaded the new UI beta. Looks very good!
Cheers!
Sjoerd
Correction! not solved. I was looking at a different session.
Mstsc.exe does work fine. It really only happens within RDM.
Cheers!
Sjoerd
So this should work when you open it in external mode since RDM use mstsc in external mode
David Hervieux
I don't understand. When I use RDM with RDP session connecting to a Windows 2008 R2 having Citrix XenApp 6(.5) installed I cannot automatically login.
When connecting with RDP directly I do not have issues with this.
IMHO this has something to do with RDM or not?
Do you have a Citrix server like this to test with?
Cheers!
Sjoerd
We have citrix server but we can't reproduce the problem. I will ask Maurice if he knows something. He is the one who did the XenServer integration.
David Hervieux
David, Do you have any progress on this case?
Cheers!
Sjoerd
Honestty not really. Could you try the Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection Manager? we use the same active x. At least I could verify if they have the same problem?
David Hervieux
OK, I just installed the Connection Manager and when I create the same machine there and remember the credentials it automatically logs me in.
So the problem only occurs in RDM.
Cheers!
Sjoerd
Could you try to enter the domain the username
David Hervieux
Sorry, what do you want me to do?
Cheers!
Sjoerd
Try to merge the name and the domain:
domain\username
David Hervieux
sorry... doesn't help
Cheers!
Sjoerd
Could you try to save the password locally in not in the database. Maybe it use the Windows Credential Vault
David Hervieux
It just never works. In none of the possible password-save locations.
Cheers!
Sjoerd
It could be that you have to use the domain as your username.
Could you try to activate the NLA?

David Hervieux
Thanks! that is the solution.
Kudos!
Cheers!
