"Please install VMware vSphere PowerCLI to execute this operation"
New User here. I love this program and i'm trying to put it through the paces.
I cannot seem to get VMWare connections working. I have the PowerCLI version 6 installed as well as the Remote Console Plug-OIn (v5.1). However I still get the message that PowerCLI is not installed.
not sure where to go from here. I have execution policy set as unrestrcited, and I have read this troubleshootin article (http://help.remotedesktopmanager.com/index.html?pane_vmware.htm) but that seems to reference configuration once things are installed.
ANy ideas?
Running Windows 7 x64
Hi Jeremy Giacchi,
Please have a look at the following help topic - http://help.remotedesktopmanager.com/troubleshooting_vmware.htm
You can also read our blog on the subject - http://blog.devolutions.net/2014/06/breaking-change-in-vmwares-powercli.html

So this means you cannot use the newest 6.0 version and have to install 5.5 R2? Confusing then, because the link in the program takes you to version 6.0
Hello,
Indeed, the link is version agnostic and points to the latest release. I will have a look and try to find a better way to reference releases.
We havent tested neither v5.8 nor v6.0 of the PowerCLI, we currently have a "task group" created to help us figure out the best support strategies for VMware products. http://blog.devolutions.net/2015/02/calling-all-cars-calling-all-cars-err-vmware-users.html
I just came back from vacation and I will put this a the top of my priorities for next week. Now we just need to test two more releases of the PowerCLI ;)
Best regards,

Hi,
I'm running into a similar issue and I was wondering if there was any recent movement on this particular issue.
Hello,
In v11, we will forego using the VimClient as it ties itself to closely to specific releases of vSphere. We have a prototype that uses only Powershell commands, but its not available yet.
Sorry about that,
Maurice
Good to hear! Can't wait!
So no URI Invocation?
That functionality is fast and realiable in our environment over 5.5 U2 and higher.
I am not sure about backwards capability but i would try that.
Any updates on this?
Hello Aaron,
There's no update regarding our integration of Vmware. You still need PowerCLI 5.5 R2 or 5.8 installed on your computer to make it work in RDM.
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
It would be cool if we get a better answer then this.
The VMware Remote Console Topics are open a long time and i would really participate in testing for your if something is needed.
We arent using RDM right now for VMs because we cannot use it at all. The Powershell startup doesnt work in our environment.
Also we are now updating to VCenter 6.0U1b.

I've talk to our dev team and we will try to find a solution. I wish it was simple but it's not because of the PowerShell dependencies.
