I have printers deployed on my machine (Windows 8.1 Remote Desktop 6.3.9600.16384) with RDM 10.1.8.0 installed that cannot get printers on servers when I connect via RDM however I can get printers on my servers when I connect though RDP normally.
Printers are ticked to pass as a resource to the remote session.
On the server I get a error in event viewer:
"Driver [Driver] required for printer !![Print Server]![Printer] is unknown. Contact the administrator to install the driver before you log in again."
With the event ID 1111, source TerminalServices-Printers.
Connecting through RDP normally works fine though with EasyPrint as the driver as normal.
This is the first problem we have experience at the company and we are all starting to use it so would love it to be fixed.

Have you tried RDM 64 bit? It's possible that you printer EasyPrint drivers are not installed for RDM 64. You also need turn on the Load Plug-ins in embedded mode.
This is disabled by default.

I have tried RDM 64bit and 32bit.
How do I Load Plug-ins in embedded mode as described.
The setting is in the experience tab of the session
Maurice
Tried opening the Properties of the item in Experience selecting "True" Load plug-ins in embedded mode and it didn't work.
Any ideas on this? Should I contact support?
Hi Matthew Kenny,
Could you export your RDP session (without the credential) in a .rdm and send the file to support@devolutions.net.
To do the export, you can right-click on your session -> Export -> Export Selection (.rdm).
Please include in your email the link to this topic.
Best regards,

Hi,
Have you tried the 64bit version of RDM with the Load plug-ins in embedded mode set to True ?
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
I have tried and unfortunately no joy.
Is there nothing you can suggest?
Hi,
Could you try RDCMan from Microsoft? We use the same ActiveX to open the RDP session and this might give us a clue about the problem.
David Hervieux
Remote Desktop Connection Manager 2.7 from Microsoft works no problem.
Could you try to import one session from RDCMan into RDM and try it?
Just another thing, could you verify in Local Resources if Printers is checked?
David Hervieux
After importing though RDCMan into RDM it does work.
Do you have a tool to compare the two sessions?
David Hervieux
Using NotePad++ I see both have redirectprinters:i:1 included in the XML.
Do you see any difference?
David Hervieux
These are missing:
gatewaybrokeringtype:i:0
use redirection server name:i:0
rdgiskdcproxy:i:0
kdcproxyname:s:
On the RDM export.
Could you export the .rdm file and do the compare or send me the two sessions (one that work and one that does not work)
