Hi,
Our users use often iseries 5250 session (AS400). Currently , we manage our sessions with the tools IBM Personnal Communications or IBM Access Connexion.
Would it be possible to include an add-on to manage and save these connections directly in RDM (we use the entreprise version with an SQL database)?
For now, I created session "command line" and sharing my session files 5250 on a network share.
Thanks a lot,
Dim
Hi,
If you could give me the command line parameters or maybe an installer that would be very easy to add. If you have the icon too.

Hi,
You can dowload the client Pcomm IBM here : http://www-01.ibm.com/software/network/pcomm/
I don't now if it's possible to run directly a session by using a command line...
Actually, we save and restart our sessions 5250 using a file configuration "*.ws". There is an exemple :
---------------------
[Profile]
ID=WS
Version=9
[Telnet3270]
Security=N
CertSelection=AUTOSELECT
[Telnet5250]
Security=N
CertSelection=AUTOSELECT
HostName=192.168.0.100
[Communication]
Link=telnet5250
Session=5250
[5250]
HostCodePage=1147-F
PrinterType=IBM3812
[Keyboard]
CuaKeyboard=2
Language=France(189)
IBMDefaultKeyboard=N
DefaultKeyboard=C:\ProgramData\IBM\Personal Communications\AS400.KMP
[LastExitView]
A=4 66 241 1056 591 3 13 26 400 0 IBM3270— 1147
-------------------------------------
Thanks,
Good, would it be ok to embed the content of the file in the session?
David Hervieux
Sorry, i don't understand your question ;)
My exemple is the full content a file configuration...
Hi,
Do you think that if RDM could embed the content of the file in the session (so in the database) and when you double click on it, RDM could generate the file and open it. Do you think that could be a possible solution?
David Hervieux
Hi,
Yes i think it can be a solution.
Here the main options that will be needed to change or edit the session :
- HostName=192.168.208.217 //IP or name of the server AS400
- WorkStationID=terminalname // name of the terminal session, must be a user specific setting. Can be enable with a value or disable => the system generate an automatic session name
- DefaultKeyboard=C:\ProgramData\IBM\Personal Communications\AS400.KMP //default value but can be change by user (specific setting)
If you want more information...Thanks,
Thank you

IBMPersonnalCommunicationsAddOn.zip
Hi,
I tested this add-on and i confirmed it works !
Thanks a lot !
I think you can improve it by adding parameter fields witch generate automatically the file ws.
Best regards,
Dimitri
I also tested this since we use this at our company as well and it works great. Just wished it could be opened embedded but great to know that we can add this feature now. Will this add-on be included in future releases or should I just have my group install the add-on manually?
Hi,
This add-on is already on-line and can be installed with the Add-on Manager.
