SCCM Remote Tools addon ?

Hi,
I think it would be nice to have SCCM remote tools addon.
The way I implement this now is to copy rc.exe and rdppencom.dll to mapped drive
Created a command line connection with the parameter (mapped folder) H:\rc.exe 1 ipaddress(or hostname)
Then i applyed a Group Policy(registry settings) on part of my clients to allow connection without users approval.
Maybe the addon is not needed as this works well this way.
Would be nice if the mapped folder was not needed or maybe some one has other ideas.

Just a thought :)

Hi,
I don't know rc.exe. Could you give more details?

Hi David,
The rc.exe is a part of the Remote Tools in
SCCM Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager.
To use the Remote Tools a SCCM client needs to be installed
on the computers that are to be remotely managed. To use the Remote Tools
without using the SCCM console one can simply copy rc.exe and rdpencom.dll from the install folder
of the SCCM installation C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\bin\i386
to anywhere and run the Tool to connect to a computer that has the SCCM client innstalled.

The remote Tools SCCM2007(version) only work on active session.
But if the computer is locked or in sleep mode you will have to revert to RDP.
SCCM 2007 has a only 2 policys, allow connection or ask the user to accept incomming
connection similar to Remote Assistant.

This will change in SCCM 2012 where you can remote into any
computer locked or unlocked that has been configured to allow Remote Tools connections.
And you can also configure it to ask the user or not in the 2012 version.

This works great by creating a Command Line connection.
I have set this upp for 300 computers in my environment.
But being the lazy admin wondered if this could be made simpler. :)

Hi,
This a first try for this new add-on. It hasn't been tested.
It's for CmRcViewer.

I'm waiting for your feedback.

The addon works for me. My viewer path is (C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Configuration Manager\AdminConsole\bin\i386). It would be great if the viewer opened embedded, but imagine thats not really possible, since you can't pass any arguments to the viewer beyond the hostname.

is configuration manager remote control now officially supported out of the box?

Hello Cmendes,

This type of entry can still only be opened using the "External" display of RDM. It cannot be embedded in the application.
