import problem

Hi,
Can you open the exported file with notepad, it's seems that it's empty?

first of all, thanks for the support. as you said, the file is empty when i open it with wordpad. this might be the problem when importing. but, my boss exported his own sessions. why the exported file is empty? is it related with using standard version of RDM? how can he successfully export a not-empty session file (the extension is .rdm)

i tried to use the software of my on but when i try to add a new session by following the instructions on the web site i get another error message and i cannot create any session. the log is as follows:

i checked other posts and opened the db with MSaccess.. there isn't any registry recorded.. i do not know what the problem is.

Hi,
It's not a Standard Edition limitation, maybe something went wrong in the saving of the exported session. Ask him to retry or copy his Access database directly.

For the other problem, I think that I saw that once and there was a corrupted entry in the database, can you open it with Access ? What you can do also with the Standard Edition, is to use an XML data source instead. Access is good, but it's an old technology that is not updated on new OS.

i will try to export the sessions and try to save it again and then import it. however, now that i recall, my boss told me that even if i export, an error happens when importing. it means, my problem is not my problem only, some other people are facing it too. by the way, we are using win 7 enterprise edition, can it be related with OS?

secondly, if i simply copy and paste the database of my boss instead of my default database, will i be able to use it? maybe it can solve my problem. (however, since i cannot add any session, i dont know what will happen in the future even if i get it work)

i saw your post regarding the corrupted entry in the database. i checked my own but there isn't any entry (no corrupted, no normal) in the database.. if i cant import, and moreover, if i cannot create any session, how should i use the software?

Yes you can copy your boss database, this should do the job. If you still have the problem, here what you can try:

- Install the latest beta, (I'm unable to reproduce with this version, I use the Access database a lot)
- Export your sessions, create a new data source of thet XML and import it.

by the way, when my boss exported his sessions, he saved the file as MyConnections.rdm. is it true or should he have used another file extension, say, MyConnections.xml?

the .rdm externsion is perfect.
