Save passwords in Enterprise version 5.5.

Save passwords in Enterprise version 5.5.

Hi,
I have a question about saving the password in the Enterprise version:
What's the difference in "Store password on local machine" and "Store password in the database"?
I don't have a local (Access) database set up, only the SQL database.
So I theory I shouldn't be able to select "Store password on local machine".
Or will the option "Store password on local machine" still save it in the SQL database.

What should I choose?

Thanks.

Hi,
The setting "Store password on local machine" use the Windows Credential Manager to store the password. If you launch mstsc.exe, you will see that you can save your local credential and RDM uses exactly the same storage. You can see the saved credentials in Control Panel - User Accounts. If you want to share the password between multiple users, you must save the credential in the database. It's also easier to manage if the password change.

Hi,
I don't think changing the password works in the Enterprise version (File - Admin- - Change Current password).
What password does it change? The password of the SQL loging or the local password to log on?
Can you maybe have a look?

Thanks,

Rene

Hi,
This is used to change the password for the current user in SQL Server if you don't use Integrated Security. I will change the menu text to be more explanatory.

Thank you
