Loaded up Remote Desktop Manager and my whole list of connections are gone.
I checked the connections folder in APPdata where it says its stored and the backup files are tiny .... and i suspect dont have any information in them.
Could this have been due to an update? did the location of the file that contains my connections change?
I have checked my backup software (carbonite) and it says there are no past versions of the connections.mdb available ....
Hi,
Can you do a search for connnections.mdb. I suspect that the file is somewhere on your drive. You can change the location in the data source settings.
Most of the time, it's in this folder:
C:\Users\{your user name}\AppData\Local\Devolutions\RemoteDesktopManager

Thats odd. I found another copy of the connections.mdb in the c:\users\username\roaming\devolutions\RemoteDesktopManager
and i moved that into the
c:\users\username\local\devolutions\RemoteDesktopManager
and that fixed the issue. Any idea why the patch switched like that?
Its working now. Thank you!
Hi,
This will be fixed in the next update. It's looking at the wrong default path, but since you changed it in your config. You will not have any problem next time. Sorry about that

I am using Windows XP and this afternoon had the same issue - all of my sessions that I set up are gone. I have been working on this for a few months and planning to roll it out to my wider team - is there anyway I can get those sessions back?
Hi,
I have no explanation, but I suspect that the config changed and your data source is not configured correctly. Can you verify and if the file connections.mdb can be found in %LocalAppData%\Devolutions\RemoteDesktopManager?
After that, just reconfigure the data source File-Data Sources.
David Hervieux
There is a connections.mdb in the C:\Documents and Settings\myusername\Application Data\Devolutions\RemoteDesktopManager folder that is 132 kb. I appear to be pointing at that but there still is nothing in the list. It was very odd - I had been using it all day and then suddenly I noticed it was missing from my icon group near the clock. When I started it manually it was blank. I rebooted and the same thing...
Can you do a search on your drive to see if you can find another one? I pretty sure that it's on your drive. Also, if you have Access you can try to open it and see the content.
David Hervieux
That's the only connections.mdb on my system. When I open it with Access I don't see anything - I'm wondering if the database was corrupted somehow?
Dan
I just tried to import it into SQL Server and it looks like it has a single connections table with an ID and a Data column. But no rows...
I was wrong - my search wasn't looking in "hidden" folders. The path was somehow changed to C:\Documents and Settings\myusername\Application Data\Devolutions\RemoteDesktopManager but there was my "real" copy in C:\Documents and Settings\myusername\Local Settings\Application Data\Devolutions\RemoteDesktopManager. All fixed - I really like your product, btw.
Great you found it, this might help other people also
