MEDIUM: Passphrase Security Provider

MEDIUM: Passphrase Security Provider

avatar

I have RDM on a network share and using the passphrase security provider.

When I launch from the network share on a workstation it opens and loads the mssql database.
If I close the application and reopen I have to re-enter the passphrase and get an access denied error with the following screenshot.

Now,
If I open the application from the server where the network share is located, I have to re-enter the passphrase. Then the program opens and database loads.
If I close from the server then go to the workstation it opens. Then I enter the passphrase again and the database loads.
If I close and reopen BAM!!! access denied again.

What I did notice is when I get an access denied the *.shk file goes to zero bytes. when I re-enter the passphrase on the server it goes to 1 byte.
Enless loop.

Very difficult to explain this one.
Any ideas?

Hi,
I will verify, I think that the passphrase is not saved at the right place and it might explain what happen. I will get back to you as soon as possible, it's high priority bug. The access denied is raised because the file is encrypted with the machine key, but it should not be saved on the network drive.

I just got around to trying 5.9.0.3.

It seems to be working. I can now open and close multiple times from the network without having to enter the passphrase everytime.

Good job. Thank you. I appreciate your time and effort.
