External Monitor

The proper implementation of this feature is on our to-do list.

We have to consolidate all the possible combinations of this setting with the new full screen APIs in Mavericks.

For your specific scenario:

The 'External' option actually refers to opening the session in an external program (e.g. the MS remote desktop client). This is not implemented in the current version, but it is nearly ready to be included. For now, 'External' defaults to opening in a tab.

I suspect what you want is to select:
- Display: Undocked
- Remote Desktop Size: Full screen

Full screen will launch on your primary monitor (as I said, we need to consolidate this with the new full screen APIs in Mavericks). So you may want to choose a custom resolution that is an appropriate size; this will open in an undocked tab.

Also note that when a session is open in a tab, you can drag the tab outside the RDM window to undock it.
