Embedded RDP connections

avatar

Just installed the beta and imported my local data source that I use in the windows version of RDP.
When opening the connection with screen size as default it doesn't fill the available space as the windows version does.
Selecting the current screen size or current work space area over sizes the RDP session and hides part of it behind the session list. If I minimize the session list I get the full screen, but I require to have the sessions list available as works in the windows version.

I am also getting the attached crash multiple times. This is occurring after the RDP session becomes responsive, which has happened quite frequently so far.

I have also had issues where the mouse clicks in the RDP session aren't registering where the pointer is located, which is very strange.

Regards,

Daniel

Hi Daniel

Thanks for the detailed report.

We will investigate the issues you described with the screen size.

For the RDP, under what circumstances does it become unresponsive? Is it after having the connection open for some time? Are you opening many connections at once? Or maybe some other pattern that you've noticed?

Thanks,

Richard

Same Here for the screen size.
Default is small.
Full screen is not full screen
Screen Size is not the screen size
etc.

Take a look AT Jump Desktop for mac there you got a option to open it like this:

So would be nice to have that to: http://d.pr/i/Iu2i

I'm looking at these issues. There are a lot of different combinations of options and we need to make sure they all work as expected, and in accordance with the Windows version.

In the meantime, try this:

Set the display option to "Undocked"
Set the remote desktop size to "Full Screen"

The RDP should open in the native OS X full screen mode.

If you prefer it to be windowed - as in your screenshot, you can set the size to "Current Screen Size" then maximise the undocked window with the green pill. However this doesn't account for the window decorations, so currently it will display with scrollbars. In this case, the behaviour is correct as per the Windows version but due to the difference in our UI, the behaviour is not quite correct for the Mac version!

I am revisiting these settings and will make an update that addresses this.

Undocked is working ideed. But like you told scroll bars are still there.
Hope you can fix it with the next updates;)

Jump works really nice with that because when i'm working on my macbook only the screen size is good.
And when i'm working on my thunderbolt display the screen size is also good.

So i think that would need to be the same for remote desktop manager and i'm sure it will work;)

If you need more info or want me to test something let me know.

Just wanted to give my +1 on the docked session not filling the dock area. Workable for now but seems to be stuck in 800x600 or 1024x768.

Yes indeed, it works on full screen with mee only full full screen... so i get scroll bars:P

Hi Daniel
We’ve fixed a large number of items in the latest version (0.9.5.0), which is now available. I’d really appreciate if you could try the new version and let me know how it works for you.

This should now be fixed. When selecting ‘Default’ for the screen size, it should use the available working area.

I actually haven’t been able to reproduce this. Can you try with the new version, and if the problem persists, post a screenshot of that behaviour (with an sensitive information blanked out)?

Stability should be greatly improved. Please let us know if this persists and post further crashes.

I made a fix here. I would appreciate if you could test this again :)
Thanks again, Richard

Hi Screen with default is working ok now.

But now only the undocked needs to be fixed see the scroll bars:

This is with the use current work space size: http://d.pr/i/Xq86

Same is with current screen size.
Would love to see it like i explained form Jump Desktop thats really awesome.
and then ofcours your tabs on the top!

An other thing after editing a entry it goes back to the home screen: http://d.pr/i/s6j7

Thats really f*cked up... don't know if its a bug or something that needs to be fixed.

Hi,

I'm aware of the issue with scroll bars.

The problem is, we are emulating the behaviour of the Windows version. However, the Mac version includes extra window chrome in the undocked session, which makes the window content area too small for the 'current work space' / 'current screen size' resolution! I'm going to take a look at Jump Desktop on this.

The issue with entries going back to the home screen is a known bug, I think that Benoit is working on that one.

Thanks again, Richard

If you like add me on Skype i did send you a PM about that.
Maybe you can login because you need to buy jump they don't have a trail i think.

So that you can take a look at my screen and see what i mean.

Hi guys

I've added an option to the OS X version that should make undocked sessions work a bit better. Please check out the latest version (0.9.28.0) and let me know if it works for you.

In your connection options, if you select "Display: Undocked", there is a new checkbox on the 'Display' tab called 'Adjust remote desktop size for window chrome'.

If you check that option, undocked sessions should size themselves appropriately so that they display without any scrollbars.

There are a lot of different permutations of display settings and it's been hard to catch all of them, so I'd be especially interested in what settings you have if you encounter any unexpected behaviour.

Thanks, Richard
