Citrix sessions displaying incorrect resolution

Citrix sessions displaying incorrect resolution

avatar

When using embedded Citrix sessions, the display (Remote desktop size) is being ignored. The resolution is larger than the embedded area and is being cutoff (no scrollbars). Is there any way to force the resolution to 1024x768 when using the embedded display method?

Hi,
Just to be sure, what version of RDM do you use ? Can you post a screenshot, maybe I will see something.

Thank you, I will try to do some test and see what might be the problem

Hi,
I found the problem, but I don't have access anymore to a Citrix server, can you try this version ?

Unfortunately it doesn't appear to be working. The embedded citrix session is still at max resolution, rather than the specified 1024x768. Is there any debugging information I could capture that would help? I have included a screenshot. Thank you for the help so far.

Hi,
I updated the binaries with a debug message and a possible fix. Can you retry please it ?

From ~/AppData/Local/Devolutions/RemoteDesktopManager/RemoteDesktopManager.log:

[11/2/2010 11:48:05 AM]DEBUG Started with parameters:
[11/2/2010 11:48:06 AM]DEBUG Form load was not called
[11/2/2010 11:48:06 AM]DEBUG Starting main form Load
[11/2/2010 11:48:06 AM]DEBUG Main form Loaded = true
[11/2/2010 11:48:06 AM]DEBUG Ending main form Load
[11/2/2010 11:48:06 AM]DEBUG Showing main form...

When starting the connection a window popped-up confirming the 1024x768 resolution.

The embedded window was 1024x768 - however the resolution of the citrix session remained unchanged, cropping the desktop further. This was a Windows 2003 (64bit) citrix server. I also tested a Windows 2003 32bit citrix server, and had the same results. Then I figured I would try on a Windows 2000 citrix connection. Result: success!

Screenshots included.

Hi,
So it's seems that it works for Windows 2000 but not Windows 2k3?

David Hervieux

avatar

Correct.

avatar

Ok,
I will do a small prototype and sent it to you, we will be able to do some test. I might be able to get access to a Citrix server tomorrow, but I'm not that I will be able to reproduce the problem, so the prototype might help.

Hi,
Can you try this basic tester as a starting point.

CitrixTester.zipp

The program itself works, but Windows 2003 Citrix sessions remain cropped.

avatar

Hi,
Let try this one.

David Hervieux

CitrixTester1.1.zipp

Sorry, no change.

I don't have any programming knowledge to offer, but these lines from my .ica file are what control the resolution when not embedded:

UseDefaultWinSize=Off
DesiredWinType=3

I am also experiencing the same problem and I have tried the app that you posted and it is also doing the same thing.

Thank you

Hi,
I think that I will have to update the library to the latest version, I will send you another test version soon. Thank you for your help

Hi,
One last time please. Try both with and without "Disable Multi Monitor".

Autoscale ON & DMM OFF
Autoscale ON & DMM ON
Autoscale OFF & DMM OFF
Autoscale OFF & DMM ON

No change.

Hi,
I really don't know. This is the Citrix ActiveX and I tried all the possible settings. The only think I can see, is that you don't use the latest Citrix client, if you have virtual machine, maybe you can give it a try?

Just by curiosity, can you try another tool like this one:

I'll also try some other Citrix boxes I have access to (different farm). Will report back on Monday. Thank you!

Hi,
Let try a completely different approach, you said from a ica file it works ? Try this application and check Load from file, enter the path of one file that you can use without problem and click connect.

Citrix1.4.zipp

Sorry for the delay, very busy week. I am testing the new version today and tomorrow.

avatar

Hi dhervieux,
I had the same issue and I found that this was caused by dual screen display. Once I set only one screen display I got the proper resolution.
I hope this will help you to found a fix.

edit:
ooops, I didn't see the second page :p
