RDM serious memory Leak?

avatar

I am using 5.8.3 on Vista, and RDM's memory usage often exceeds 100MB+. Currently I have only 4 RDP sessions open, and working set memory usage is almost 590MB, private is about 550MB. This can't be normal, can't continue to use application if this is the case. Thanks.

Hi,
Can you verify in the about box the real memory usage because with .NET application, the value in the task manager is not realistic. Also, we optimized the application in the latest beta, maybe you could give it a try.

I closed it and ran it again, reopened the same four sessions. Task manager usage is currently 83MB (Private), 120MB (Working Set). About box says 10MB. Not sure I trust the About box number either, hard to believe Task Mgr is completely off by a factor of 10, if that's the case then Task Mgr would be completely useless. The memory usage seems to creep up over time with the same # of sessions open. I'll report back the numbers when they creep up significantly. I might give the Beta a try, depending on how close it is to release. Thanks.

I closed 2 sessions, so only 2 sessions remaining. Memory has crept up to 140MB (working) and 105MB (Private). Can the Beta be installed and run side by side with 5.8.3, in case I have problems with the beta, or do I have to uninstall 5.8.3, install Beta, then if I have problems uninstall the Beta and reinstall 5.8.3? Will all my settings and session definitions be safe in this process?

Hi,
Yes it's possible to install the beta side by side, your settings will be saved in the new install folder. You can backup your data source before by exporting it.
