Cisco VPN connection problem

When I make a Cisco VPN connection the command window opens and makes the connection OK but the "Opening Cisco VPN Connection" dialog box stays open.
The Cisco client GUI confirms the connection has been made and I can connect to devices on the remote network. However the dialog stays open until I manually close the command window.
I'm using v5.8.2.1 and Cisco VPN client v5.0.00.0340.

Hi,
If you open it in command line, do you have the same behavior ?

Hi David,
Yes, when I use vpnclient.exe in a command line session it connects and the command window stays open.

Hi,
For now, there is nothing I can do, it's the default vpnclient.exe behavior. I will take a note and see if I can find a workaround.

Is it possible to use ipsecdialer.exe instead? It's what we use for our Cisco VPN shortcuts.
It adds an icon to the system tray while it's running but otherwise does the same as vpnclient.exe does. It opens the VPN GUI while it's connecting but it's no more intrusive than vpnclient.exe opening a command window.

I just had a closer look and using ipsecdialer.exe with the /sc (silent connect) switch doesn't show anything while connecting or after it is connected.
Maybe users could have the option of command line , GUI, or GUI silent?

Does ipsecdialer come with the Cisco VPN or it's another product ?

It's part of the Cisco VPN application. It seems to be a launcher for vpngui.exe, I'm not sure why we don't just use vpngui.exe directly. Our VPN connections were set up by a Cisco guy. I'll ask him next time I see him and let you know the reason.
