ver. 5.8.0.1, datasource SQL 2008R2 - default settings, logged in user has all SQL server administrative roles, offline mode enabled, windows 7 64bit
when working offline, RDM does not use stored credentials for RDP sessions - we have stored all of them in the same SQL database as credential repository entries.
Hi,
I will verify, this must be a bug and I will fix it quickly
David Hervieux
Hi, any progress with this? This seems to be really serious problem :-(
Hi,
This bug is high priority and it should be fixed in the next minor update. We try to release it soon
David Hervieux
Hi,
Can you try this version:
http://remotedesktopmanager.com/download/Setup.RemoteDesktopManager.5.8.1.3.exe
David Hervieux
Hi, thanks for this fix - it works like a charm...
We're using the latest version and find this to be an issue. Has the bug returned?
Unfortunately, I must confirm lowellp's experience - it's back. dhervieux has already been informed two days ago :-)
I need you help because I'm unable to reproduce it. Do you use any user setting overrides, is it linked to a specific session type. Could someone tries to create a new data source with only one session and try to reproduce it?
David Hervieux
Hi, David! This problem occurs for us at least in the following scenario:
I just tried while online, and then switching to offline mode manually, and for the last few minutes it's retaining credentials. Of course, in this scenario I do have Internet access; I'll see what happens past 5-10 minutes and post here.
How the credentials are linked? Is it with a embedded or a link?
David Hervieux
They are linked to the credential repository. So I'm trying a few different scenarios. It seems to be working fine while forcibly turning RDM offline so far, at a site that has Internet access. So the scenario where it hasn't worked is this:
So maybe when RDM is forced offline at a site that has full Internet access (thus access to SQL Azure) maybe it's still accessing Azure via the Internet still?
Another question, the credential entry is a normal one? I mean it's not in keepass or another app?
David Hervieux
It's just a normal one inside of RDM.
Happy i'm not the only one with this problem.... when completely off-line passwords are not filled in, but when 'off-line' but sql server in background still available no problem with passwords.
Waiting for solution ...
Hi,
I've just tried to reproduce it and I'm unable to. Could you send me a print screen of one of your session and also one of your credential entry. I must have a different setup than you.
David Hervieux
Do you use the user specific settings?
David Hervieux
We setup a credential entry using "Username / Password". So we have a username in the "User name" field, domain in the Domain field, and password in the Password field. When we create a connection (session) in the Credentials field we choose "Credential repository" and then browse to the credential we saved earlier. Does that answer your question?
(BTW, thanks again for being so attentive to the forums, to issues, and requests. This is rare these days and is definitely one of the reasons we moved to RDM.)
Next week, I will send you a special build with some debug info. I really tried many scenarios and I can't reproduce it. It must be missing something.
