Since updating to 2026.3.15 i'm seeing a problem with RDP sessions appearing to freeze if RDM is minimised for a while.
When you return to RDM the session looks ok but you can't click on anything and the keyboard appears not to work.
If you hit enter the screen partly redraws indicating that the windows session locked the screen due to inactivity timeout so is waiting for you to enter the password but the actual display had not updated in RDM due to it being minimised.
This has never been a problem before, so appears to relate to the latest version of RDM (not sure what version I was running before the update, but I keep it updated so whatever the previous version was)
Hello Steve,
Thank you for the detailed description.
I tried to reproduce the problem on my side with RDM 2026.3.15. I minimized RDM with an RDP session open, waited for the remote Windows session to lock, then restored RDM. The session redrew correctly and stayed responsive, so I couldn’t reproduce the freeze.
To try again under the same conditions, could you tell me:
With that information I’ll run a test with the same timing. In the meantime, if it happens again, you can try View > Refresh or resizing the RDM window. Please let me know whether either one brings the display back.
Best regards,
Carl Marien
I'm connecting to a Windows 11 system that has a 10 minute timeout before the screen locks.
I run it embedded in a maximised tab. On Properties General it shows RDP Type Normal (I don't see the other options you mentioned)
If I leave RDM maximised but pull things over the top it correctly locks the screen, redrawing correctly when I switch back to RDM.
If I minimise RDM and pull it back up later (no specific time maybe 15 minutes maybe an hour+) the screen generally looks "normal" but doesn't respond. If I have multiple tabs open, switching to another tab and back causes it to redraw the screen and show the lock screen correctly.
Thanks,
Steve
