Make it possible to use fields from password list in 'connection string' entry

Workspace Type: Devolutions Cloud
Tool: Remote Desktop Manager v2026.3

When i use entry of type 'connection string' i would like to lookup host, username, password from another credential entry like an entry in a password list. This to avoid duplication which is a problem when credentials change.

Use case:
I have one target sql server with multiple databases.
I now have a credential entry of type connection string for each connection string (which use same host, user name, password, but different database, different timeout settings).
I want to get rid of this duplication because when credentials change I have to adapt each connection string

Hello,

Thanks for the request. So I can understand your scenario better, could you let me know how you connect to those SQL Server databases? Is it through an entry type in RDM, an external application, scripting?

In RDM I have an entry op type 'Connection String' for each connectionString. (Currently about 10 databases per environment (test, acceptance, prod), so in total about 30 connectionstrings)
In RDM I configure the connectionstring and test it. (The benefit of connectionString credential type above other credential type is that I can test the connectionstring directly from RDM)

After that I copy each connection string to my target production application to the credential store of the target application
We use RDM to store credential entries. Runtime the application does not use RDM but in this case azure keyvault.

Is this enough information?

Hello,

Thank you, this does help understand how you're using these entries.
We'll open a ticket on our side and see what we can do.
