Thank you for the detailed questions. For the Vim colors, first add set background=dark to the .vimrc on the server. Then open the entry and set Bold Mode to Change font and color under Terminal, Display. Another user with the same Vim color problem fixed it with these two changes.

RDM has its own built-in terminal, separate from Windows Terminal. In the entry properties, the terminal options are under the Terminal tab (Configuration, Display and Advanced). The same options are also available globally in the settings under Entry Types - Sessions, Terminal. I did not find a setting that controls output smoothness.

For a Dark+ look, you can set each color manually under Terminal, Display, Colors. The Syntax highlighting mode option in the same tab can also help. You can find these options described here: https://docs.devolutions.net/rdm/knowledge-base/knowledge-base-articles/entry-settings/ssh-terminal/

I solved the problem with background auto-detection in Vim.
Setting the "Default terminal type: linux" parameter in the Entry types/Sessions/Terminal helped.

But now, the selection doesn't work with the Shift key pressed in Midnight Commander. How can I fix this issue?

Glad to hear the Vim background is sorted out.

Midnight Commander turns on mouse reporting, so the terminal passes your mouse clicks to the application instead of selecting text.

To select text anyway, hold Ctrl+Shift while you left-click and drag. Shift+drag then continues an existing selection, and Alt+drag selects a rectangle. I meant selecting files in the MC using the Shift+Up\Down keys.

I noticed that scrolling the terminal history does not work, as it does in WT by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Up\Down.
The following characters appear on the screen (with or without Ctrl): Shift+Up - A, Shift+Down - B, Shift+Left - D, Shift+Right - C.

Does the RDM terminal send the wrong signals when pressing keyboard shortcuts?

Also in VIM, selecting text with the Shift key pressed causes it to ignore mouse signals. This is how it works in WT, but for some reason it only works in RDM by pressing the Ctrl key.

The letters you see with Shift+arrows are most likely a side effect of the "linux" terminal type. Do you get the same issue when changing the type back to default?

For history scrolling, Ctrl+Shift+Up and Ctrl+Shift+Down can be assigned as RDM shortcuts. You can check this in File, Settings, User interface, Keyboard. The mouse wheel should scroll the history in the meantime.

Could you update Remote Desktop Manager to the latest version, 2026.3.13, and test again? On my side, the scroll wheel works as expected in the SSH session with that version.

I tried to upgrade to version 2026.3.13, but my corporate antivirus did not allow me to install the new version. The HEUR virus was allegedly detected:HackTool.Win32.RDPThief.the gen in the MsRdpEx file.

Thank you for the follow-up. MsRdpEx is a Devolutions component included with Remote Desktop Manager that extends the built-in RDP client, and its source code is public at https://github.com/Devolutions/MsRdpEx.

A heuristic (HEUR) detection is based on how a file behaves rather than on a known threat, and this type of component can be flagged because of the way it integrates with the RDP client. This is most likely a false positive, but I would like to confirm it.

Could you send the exact detection name, the antivirus product and version, and the full path of the flagged file? In the meantime, your IT team can verify that the file is digitally signed by Devolutions and, if they agree, add an exclusion or submit the file to the antivirus vendor as a false positive.
