RDM v2026.3.5 - Open Tabs Moving and Undocking on single mouse click

Yeah the thing with the tabs is incredibly annoying. Also all my RDP sessions default to very tiny remote windows and I had to set the properties for Remote Desktop size on all connections.

Yes, it's very annoying. That's exactly how it is for me. Set to "default" "auto" - but apart from the first connection, only a tiny remote session opens.
And tabs thing... detaching every second click. :(

Updated to RDM 2026.3.5 and open several tabs and if i single click a tab it with either select like normal, select and become draggable, or undock from the main RDM window. Results seem to be random.

I am also seeing RDP instability. Screen writes are not stable, switching between tabs (open RDP sessions) I will get blank screens, half written screens, slow response screens in a session, or a normal screen. Results are random.

I am on RDP'd into Windows Server 2025 in an Enterprise environment, running RDM on my jump box.

Hello everyone,

For the issue where RDP opens in a small size, a new version containing a fix has been released. Please update to version 2026.3.8.0 or later.
As a side note, there is also a workaround as it happened when double clicking specifically, so using the "Open session" context menu or action in the dashboard should work to bypass the issue as well.

For the issue with the tabs and drag/undock, we will open a ticket so we can address this.

Don't get us wrong. It's a great feature. But it sticks to the mouse pointer so much when you're switching through tabs. Then undocks a tab, even though I don't want to. xD
dev' could also simply define the undocking behavior in the settings with an “On” “Off”. I couldn't find anything.

It is very rare that i want to undock a tab, but when i do I just want to right-click and select Undock.

@Phil 2026.3.9 installed, still getting random tab undocks, but its definitely less frequent.

2026.3.13 undocking issue has gotten worse. Anytime I change tabs and the RDS session has to refresh/rewrites the screen, the tab comes undocked on its own. Quite annoying.

This is 100% not fixed. Infact its so bad I am tempted to roll-back to pre- .3 completely again.

As @peterbartels1 stated, its very annoying and rolling back to 2026.2.x is definitely on the table at this point. Both the undocking issue and RDP session refreshing issue are driving me insane.

Thank you for trying to record the issue. Our developers think it depends on timing, so the load from screen recording may be enough to keep it from happening.

1. Recording
Could you try another recorder, such as OBS Studio, ShareX or the Windows Snipping Tool? If you were recording on the jump box, try recording from your local workstation instead, outside the RDP session.

2. Your remote session setup
Your environment seems to be key to reproducing this, and we'd like to rebuild it on our side. Could you tell us:

• Is the jump box a standalone Windows Server 2025 machine, or a Remote Desktop Session Host shared by several users?
• How do you connect to it (RDM, mstsc directly, RD Gateway, RD Web Access or RemoteApp)?
• What OS is your local workstation running, and how many monitors does the session use? Do they have different resolutions or scaling (DPI) settings?
• Do you use any custom RDP settings for that connection, such as a GPO, a custom .rdp file, or graphics/H.264 settings?
• About how many tabs are open in RDM when it happens?

3. Logs Please send us the RDM logs from the jump box right after the issue happens (Help > Troubleshooting > Application Logs).

I will send you an upload link in your DMs for the files.

Sorry for the late response.

I cant get a video.

However I am also using RDM in a jump box (Azure WVD), and it happens probably 25% of the time that I click back into RDM from doing something else.
Its very annoying.

Another annoying thing, although templates have been added back to the quick connect, by default none is selected when you first open RDM.
Previous versions kept the template selected.

Honestly I think I am just going to go back to the previous version. I had 0 issues in that version. It worked perfectly.
