How to update ReadyToRun version

How to update ReadyToRun version

avatar

Hello, what is the proper method to update the ReadyToRun version? When I run the updater from inside the app, it just installs the regular version.

Do I just unzip it over-top the pervious version? Unzip it to a new folder? Other?

Thanks.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding this,

That is correct; you can just unzip the file contents onto your existing version while RDM is closed.

Let me know if this helps,

Hello

I just wanted to add something to Samuel's answer, because things have changed in the last year or so

Historically we only offered the ReadyToRun (architecture specific) builds as .7z archives. In this case, the install and update process is indeed manual (unpack the archive and copy over the old files).

More recently we now offer proper .msi and .exe installers for ReadyToRun versions.

On the download centre, anything suffixed with an architecture (either "x64" or "arm64") is architecture-specific, ReadyToRun. If you use one of the installers (.exe or .msi) the application will be installed to Program Files; and the updater inside the application will function correctly (if you are on a ReadyToRun build, you'll get the ReadyToRun update).

If you use an installer (.exe or .msi) and you want to switch from a regular build to ReadyToRun, or vice-versa; it's necessary to uninstall the prior copy first from the "add or remove programs" system settings page.

I hope that makes sense. Please let me know if you have some questions

Kind regards,
