I would like to have a dedicated input field for the status message.
Recently, I have had to customize the warning messages several times. This requires additional effort because I always have to select the status first before I can access the text field.

Hello Stefan,
Would adding a button for "edit message" that you still need to click be a good solution for you? Since the message can be multiple lines, I think that's the best solution here, and still means you don't need to reselect the same status every time.

If I could choose, I would implement it like this:
On Top is the Status as a Dropdown-Box like the Mode in the picture.
Options: No Status, Locked, Warning, ...
Below that is the text input field, as shown in the screenshot, labeled "Message".
This way, you can see the text without having to click an extra button.

I see what you mean. We could do it that way too, we might just need to have the status as the final field here so the larger text box doesn't impede on the rest of the settings.
I'll open a ticket for this.
