Constant collapsing of tree view

Constant collapsing of tree view

avatar

Since 1 or 2 updates, the tree view keeps collapsing so only the folders directly under my vault/hub (?) are showing up.
It randomly goes from expanded to collapsed (screenshot "collapsed1")
I manually have to open every path/folder again.

Also, when manually opening, all sub-folders are also collapsed. (screenshot "collapsed2")

Also, the app is getting slower and more laggy with every update... it's a pain to work with...

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out! Sorry to hear you are experiencing performance issues.

Can you please let us know what workspace you have configured?

Can you also please let us know how many entries you have in total?

We will try to recreate the issue on our side.

Thank you in advance!

Hi Sam,

What do you mean by configured workspace?
I currently have 835 entries in total, according to the status bar counter.

Hello,

Thank you for the feedback.

Data sources (DVLS, Cloud, SQL, etc.) are now called workspaces in the latest versions of RDM.

Can you please also confirm what version of RDM you are currently using as well?

Once we have those details, we will attempt to recreate the issue on our side.

Thank you in advance!

Best regards,

Sam

Hi Sam,

I'm using a Devolutions Hub Personal.

Can you please also confirm what version of RDM you are currently using as well?

It's the most recent version - no updates pending: 2026.2.11.0

I'm chiming in to report the same problem. It occurs particularly upon making a new connection. Roughly one second after a successful connection the entire tree collapses which I must say is quite annoying.

Hi Sam,

This is great news! I'll be more than happy to see a fix for this issue. Thank you!

Besides that, any news about the laggy performance reports?

Have a nice weekend!

Hello,

You're very welcome.

Can you please provide some more context regarding the performance issues?

Is it during startup? Launching/editing a session? Does it happen only with specific entries?

Thank you in advance!

Best regards,

Sam.

Hello,

Thank you for the details.

I will attach a few of our KB articles that you can review that may help with the performance issues you are experiencing:

Please give these a look and let us know if you see any difference.

Thank you again!

Hi Sam,

Thanks for the links. I went through all of them.

The global performance-related settings you mentioned are already configured optimally on all of my machines, so unfortunately they didn't improve the situation.
Regarding the suggestion to adjust RDP settings per entry: I have around 835 entries in total, not just RDP sessions. While Bulk Edit exists, it's quite cumbersome, especially for testing, and not practical at this scale.
And regarding the custom images, RTF descriptions etc. - I don't use any of these at all.
I also don't think this should be necessary in the first place. Other remote management tools, such as Royal TS, provide good performance with their default configuration, so I would expect RDM to offer a similarly optimized out of the box experience.

The reason I'm raising this is because Royal TS has been the only solution I’ve been using so far, and we are currently evaluating RDM as a potential solution to roll out company-wide. For us, one of the major advantages of RDM is its server licensing model for business use and the support for centralized data sources, which fit our environment much better.

I'm happy to help troubleshoot further and can test settings, different configurations, or logging if needed. However, manually tuning a wide variety of different sessions isn't a realistic long-term solution.
From my perspective, this points to a need for improved default behavior or overall performance in RDM.

Best regards,

Hello,

Thank you for the feedback!

Since the performance issues differ from the original issue, we have split this case into two separate threads.

I will reply in the new thread to your latest message.

Thank you again!
