High CPU usage

avatar

When a user's session is disconnected or the user is inactive, Devolutions RDM (2026.2.9.0; OS Windows Server 2019) consumes a very high amount of CPU resources. When the session becomes active again and the user logs back into the application, CPU usage drops to around 10%.
I checked, and the same behavior occurs on the latest versions as well.
What could be causing this behavior?

Hello

Sorry for the inconvenience. I'd encourage you to subscribe to this thread. The thread was created for an issue in 2026.1.x, but current discussion is around the same regression you've reported in 2026.2.

The fact that CPU usage is only elevated on a disconnected session is a new data point for me. Once the user logs back in you said it drops to around 10% - do you consider that normal or still elevated? It still seems high to me.

If you'll check my latest post in the linked thread, I've asked if someone can submit mini dumps and/or an ETL trace capturing the problem because I cannot reproduce it on my side currently. This is a high priority issue for us.

Please let me know if something isn't clear

Kind regards,

Hello

I do believe I've hit upon the problem and submitted a mitigation fix to the RDM Windows team. My understanding is that they are eager to get this issue patched so I would expect you'll see this rolled into a minor update very soon; however more details will follow early next week.

Subsequently once that is in everyone's hands I'll work on a more comprehensive fix and provide a more detailed analysis of what the problem is and what we will change to prevent it reoccurring.

In the meantime, please don't hesitate with further questions or comments

Kind regards,

Richard Markievicz
